For f2p, power mining iron is the way to go. In the Dwarven Caverns (or whatever they're called), you can also mine iron outside of the resource dungeon and bank it inside for faster exp.

At a higher level, I'm thinking willows give around 30k/h while powertraining, while maples give around 20k/h. However, maples are a lot more valuable than the willows if you are planning to make some money. If you are going to do maples, make sure to use your Ring of Kinship for faster...
