Let's say I wanted to change out the hard drive's in my MacBook Pro. It comes with a 500GB 5400 RPM HDD, but I wanted to buy a SSD, put it in as the main drive, put the OS from the 500GB drive on the SSD, sell the 500GB drive. What SSD would I buy, and what all do I need to know to change it out?

What's your budget for an SSD? There are replacements sold for optical drivers that allow you to place an SSD in instead of an optical drive.

I would just need to put the OS on the new SSD, then I could get rid of the HDD. 5400 RPM is too slow for me.

What would be a good budget for a 240GB SSD, or around that size?

I'm not 100% sure, but if it has any warranties they may become void if you open up your MAC book pro yourself to do things with it.
