I agree that rep is just a number, however would you rather buy something off of someone with a higher rep, or a lower rep. Or even someone with the same amount but has Negatives, rather than never having a single negative.

Yes, but I'm saying if both people were trustworthy. Someone with 10 rep, or someone with 1,000 who would you rather buy off of? The people with 2k rep that scammed are stupid, probably figured they could get away with it since everyone knew him/her.

well i don't go first to anyone with a few exceptions, and i don't look at rep for that.

I don't mind going first with anyone, as long as they aren't a new user, have neg rep for scamming, or some other form of cheating people out of their money. I look at rep to tell if the user is trustworthy enough for me to go first, or to even have a transaction with them.
