Currently:
Due to the current system members will join and post 20 times on nearly anything in sight. Even if the thread is a month old. These posts may also consist of low quality junk such as, "I agree." or simple facts which other members had already stated.

Suggestion:
Add a determined amount of join time requirement before being allowed to make any requests.
Ex. 5 days minimum or 24 hours of online time.

Conclusion:
I understand we want this forum to flourish with posts, so the 20 post requirement is helpful towards that goal. So it could be beneficial to add a time limit as well before they are able to request. This will cause them to not only post 20 times, but since they have to wait a determined amount of time they will continue to post.

I support this all the way. We don't need spam, we need useful posts which help each other.

This is good, but alot of members will sign up and leave, just make it 50 posts or something, more than enough people report here..

There is one forum which requires you to have 50 posts and to have been at least registered for 10 days before accessing a section where people dump auths.

I believe something like this should be implemented.

50 Posts + 36 Hours of time on RuneGear before accessing the requests/giveaways section.

It does sound like a good idea, but if they're restricted to the dumps temporarily then there may just be no way of reeling them in to stay?
Maybe a combination of a couple of small things that add up, 20 Posts, 3 Hours of being active(Would be nice if you could make it so there account goes inactive while no moment for over 120s) on the forum and account creation over 5 days ago?

Support.
Users can just spam, although... lets say you need 5 days online, they can just use an auto-refresher on the homepage of runegear to gain time.

True iolaka, or even an auto clicker onto of the refresh bar, perhaps a way of going off the clicks done by the user? But then again it seems the only way we can prevent something like this from happening is by making it far too complicated for some other people :sad2:

The reason that section is temporary is due to the legalities that may occur, honestly I'm not bothered to receive countless DMCA notices to remove content on this forum.

I think you may have misunderstood my point. My suggestion was to prevent people from joining the forums just to get some auths then leave.

But, now that I think about it....

Auths will also get banned.
So they have to come back either way. Thus, allowing for the possibility of them staying and contributing with posts so that the forum can get bigger and Management can make more money off of ads.

Perhaps x amount of posts = one auth ?

But the problem with that is how will be know how many auths each individual has gained, and if they get the auth they need what will stop them from spamming just to get to 40 posts. Maybe 5 days of activity with a 10 post average? Something along those lines maybe.
