So in the past couple of months I have grown to dislike this country even more and more. We are slowly having our rights taken away and people are doing nothing about it. I myself am 16 almost 17 and I know my rights and I think it is very important that every American should know his or hers and be able to protect there rights. Slowly this country is taking away your rights. You might be saying to yourself right now what rights are they taking away? Well recently they have been infringing on your privacy by monitoring phone calls and txt messages. You might say to yourself o this isn't that big of a deal I have nothing to hide. Even if you are hiding something or not its your right to have this privacy and they are taking that away from you. This should piss you off more then ever. And what makes you think that if they can take this right away from you they wont't take others away? Such as censorship (Which they are already trying to do on the internet), or the right to bare arms (They are already taking away guns from people and banning them from civilian use), or your right to freedom of speech. Hopefully this will all change soon and we will get our freedoms back and become one of the greatest countries in the world again. Our founding fathers would be disgusted with how we are acting.

I still would live nowhere else but america. But americas not the same, 16 trillion dollars in debt speaks for itself. The fact that american products are sub-par or shit to foreign made is sad. Quality of things in america has been on a decline ( Food industry speaks for itself as well).

Look at the 1950's, it wasn't stereotypical, people generally were happier. Things were more peaceful, it wasn't about money, it was about the people . As time went on, the Government got more power hungry, and money hungry, they started to care less and less about the people.

Lets look at most of society:

Go to school, graduate high school, go to college, get a degree in something, and then get a job. Oh wait, there are no jobs. So you just wasted at least 4 years of your life at college getting a degree in something you probably won't even be able to do. The government wants society to do the same thing, it's what makes them more money.

Sure, there are people who see that there's a problem with today's society, but do you have a voice? Not really, you cay say whatever you want, but you get shut down by the government, by the media, just as quick as you said it. If you're a threat to the government's money making ways, you're a threat to society.

Lets look at Jail, I don't know if it's different for each state, maybe each county, but in Allendale, Michigan, for every day you're in Jail, you pay $50 and up to $60 for every day you're in Jail. So basically, they are CHARGING YOU to take away your freedom. And you can't do anything about it, because once you stand up and speak out about it, oh look - you get jailed some more, fined some more.

It's one big vicious circle Gents, America's been in so long, I don't think we can get out.

I agree with you on some of the things you are saying. But I disagree with your opinion on the jail situation. I think that is great that people are being charged every day they are in jail. Because you know who pays for there meals, bed, clothes, and everything else? We do. So i think them being charged is great.

Most of the comments thus far speak for themselves. Its a shame some of you guys have nothing to contribute other than your unwanted presence.

There is a lot going on that we know about and dont do anything about. And there is more going on that we have yet to uncover. Its hard to "prove" any of it, the only real way we ever find out about shady things going on is when the government slips up and cuts their own throats. Then its followed by a lot of excuses, cover ups and manipulation and nothing ever gets done. I dont really know what can be done. Spreading awareness is one step, but where do we go from there? We have to be we first. Strength in numbers. I think about my house being nuked everyday, or our food being poisoned (more than it already is) or police/military occupying the streets and setting curfew and ridiculous laws.

I think everyone needs to become a prepper. Even if you cant afford a 6 million dollar bunker thats fully furnished, start with the basics. Learn everything there is to know about survival skills, educate yourself. Even if we werent in crisis these are things we all should know how to do, instead we all know how to play Candy Crush. Its pathetic. We're better than this, we're better than where we're headed.

I've already seen that video clip before, it's amazing.
It's late and I don't feel like thinking much right now, but while I'm reading this thread I would recommend looking into some alternative media for your news instead of the state run mainstream media. YouTube is convenient for me so channels like http://www.youtube.com/RussiaToday and http://www.youtube.com/cgreene34 are good at getting the word out.

That's another great point. You always want to have hard assets (gold/silver, food, water, etc.) just in case.

I couldn't agree more. I have started storing water just because I think they will Poisson water. Just some old bottles like 20 and i have them completely filled with water. Will last a solid week or two. But I couldn't agree more I'm constantly worried for the day when the government begins full take over!

First of all, they are not taking away any freedoms. They are bending and adapting them, if anything. Our country was founded in 1776, which is more than 250 years ago. The same freedoms certainly do not apply.

Secondly, we have more rights than a lot of other countries on the planet. In that sense, we are very lucky. When writing this I am assuming that you are an average white male, like myself. Your rights are not being taken away. You should not be complaining about your rights being taken away. If anything, you should be complaining on behalf of others. Do you know that people that love each other are being denied the right to get married? Why is this not in your list above? You're complaining about the right to bear arms, which is limited and is not necessarily what you may think it is, when there are humans being denied the basic right to marriage.

Third, I want to comment on the following statement.

Our founding fathers would be disgusted with how we are acting.

Our founding fathers built the country on some of the principles of freedom that you listed above. They would not be disgusted by the lack of freedoms, they would be disgusted by the freedoms that we allow. For example, if the fathers of our country were to see women voting, black men walking about freely, or man marrying man they would be appalled. It's all a matter of perception. Times change, and so must our country.

Lastly, I wanted to make this clear. When you say America, you are referring to the land mass the stretches all the way from Greenland to Argentina. If you want to refer to the country you live in, say the United States. The USA isn't the only country in the Americas, and we should treat it that way. I'm very close friends with an exchange student from Chile. He gets extremely offended when people use the term "America" to refer to the United States, and I can see why. So next time, be a little more cautious about what terms you use.

The right to bare arms is a basic right that should not be infringed upon. Also I honestly don't even care about gay marriage and things like that they can do what they want i honestly don't even care. And I hate to disagree with you but our rights are slowly being taken away and since you are accepting this what makes you think you wouldn't accept something more drastic down the road?

Our rights aren't being taken away. They are being adapted. The government wouldn't be able to monitor us if it was infringing on our rights. It's a matter of national security. Plus, I feel safer knowing that the government is watching, because it makes me feel safe and I know that the majority of the people there are there to protect their country.

A matter of national security? I'm sorry but that is just wrong. National security my ass the government monitors everyone not just certain people they monitor everyone wether it is just using a key word and going through txt messages and phone calls but they monitor everyone in some kind of way. Also how do you feel safe knowing that you can't even make decisions in your country? How do you feel safe when they monitor peoples stuff and yet terrorist attacks and other crimes are still committed? And no if you looked into what Edward Snowden exposed they are not here to protect our country they are here to take advantage of us. They treat us as if we are some stupid animal who they are trying to tame. Give it time my friend and you will soon see internet censorship, freedom of speech silenced, and many more things to come. We will become robots in a country were its prime principles of freedom's and rights are nonexistent.

If they have to monitor everyone to prevent one act of terror, I am okay with that. Some people may seem like normal people, but may be out to hurt others. This is a necessary evil. You never know who people truly are. Those things you mentioned will never happen. The officials within the government will never allow it, nor will the populous. They are not out to take advantage of us. You're blowing this way out of proportion. It's not like we live in a communist state, which is what you are portraying the United States as. We are an autonomous nation, and that will never change. The people will simply not allow it.

I completely agree with you as the people not allowing it. But I believe we are making steps in becoming a communist state. Extremely small steps, but over time they will begin to add up. I hate to disagree with you again but the people in power (Major Companies of America and what not) are controlling this place and are monitoring us. Even if they are monitoring a terrorist's internet and what no, in my mind they shouldn't be (Until they get legal documentation) these are the basic rights and freedoms of this great country and these are what the country was founded on. I think everyone should have these rights and freedoms no matter who you are or what you did. Let the people decide if we want our internet monitored, you have no right to go and just make the call by yourself. (Government not u lol)

We are not even close to becoming a communist state. That is a very false statement. People may think this, but it is not true. Our government has elected officials, whereas communist states do not. Power is divided between three branches of government, whereas there is one leader in a communist state. People have freedom of speech and press here, whereas those in a communist state do not. The way our is setup is in no way similar to that of a communist government. The government is for the people and by the people, and would not run if it weren't for the people.
