We have changed our site IP completely hoping that will negate away from this DDOS attack. Let's cross our fingers it works. In total there's been over 400 individual IP addresses blocked by our server. This attack is obviously a banned member of MF requesting a service, and someone with a large botnet has complied and is attacking our site.

I've done the best I can to stop most of it, and so have our host suppliers (they've been fantastic). Expect some more downtime, I highly doubt it's over just because the site's up at the moment. The only thing we can do really is keep attempting to block it, and eventually when it stops re-promoting MF like crazy again. Downtime hurts sites.

My IP must be caught in some range ban, since I can't access the site without a proxy (Opera Turbo, to be exact. It isn't a proxy, but it kind of is, since it gives me a new IP).

The bots are most likely resolving the new IP from the domain, so I don't think changing the IP would make that big of a difference.

You could try disabling the domain temporarily and email all users with a new IP that they can access the forum with.
It's possible the person behind the attack could have created an account though, so it would be more secure if you could only e-mail users who registered, say, 4 weeks ago (long before the attack started). But I don't think that's possible in mybb without a little database searching.

I doubt it, and tbh there would be no way you could tell if your IP was blocked. The site has been fully down most of the day, many people probably think they're firewalled. The IP's which are blocked are obvious attacking ones, but it's always possible regular IP's could have been caught.

Would be borderline impossible to email the users if the site is completely down. Well, it would be impossible. We've not been up long enough in a period yet to do anything significant online, it's all behind the scene. I'll be surprised if I'll be allowed to post this first time, it's that inconsistent. And yeah, MyBB doesn't have that function, but it's probably easily addable but I'd need the site to be online for a long period to even think of adding that, lol.

The IPs-being-blocked count is increasing by like 50 every hour. Whoever it is has a powerful botnet, and it's just obvious he's been paid to do this. However, I have no idea how long these paid attacks usually go on for. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.
