Which one do you think is better and why? Which one do you have, if you have one at all?

I have a rooted Galaxy s4 w/ stock ROM and kernel. In my opinion Android is way better for the technologically informed, like myself. Having owned both products I'd say that iPhones are better for people who just want a smartphone and don't really plan on customizing it internally. A non rooted android is basically the equivalent to a jailbroken iPhone. But rooting your android is when it gets better, access to apps that require root access is just the beginning, you can flash custom ROMs to "boost" your phones abilities and get a nice new interface, not to mention changing kernels. You can run scripts, session hijack, network test, email spoof, and even create and compile applications straight from your device, if you have the programming abilities. Since you have 100% access to everything in the phone, the possibilities are nearly endless if you know what you're doing. That's why Android is better in my opinion.

Personally, I'm not into that huge customizing thing, but I happen to have both as when I'm programming apps, I do it for both devices. My personal phone is an iPhone. I love that thing to death. HOWEVER, I will give it to Android, at least they don't have complete shitty battery life. In my opinion, iPhones are better just for day-to-day usage. You are probably right though, that Androids let you go to the maximum potential.

I know C#, C++, Ruby, JavaScript, Python, Linux, Objective-C, ASP, SQL, PHP, HTML, CSS. Even though the last 3 aren't programming.

I own the iPhone 5c, however I believe Android to be better. I will likely be purchasing the Samsung Galaxy S4/S5 once my contract expires. I am not huge on modifying / "hacking" phones. I do not know coding languages, nor do I know how to modify those type of things.
