Apple iPad 2 Review

So I got the iPad 2 for Christmas and its amazing. I like it so much I practically take it everywhere with me.

Me and Apple
As some of you may know, I'm not one for buying Apple products. The only other Apple product I have ever owned is the iPod classic, you know the bulky white one with a black and white screen and a circular scroller. Apple products just don't interest me, in fact that's a lie, I do like the Macs but the price has mainly put me off. iPods and iPhones are really simple to use and really user friendly, which I suppose is good for someone who is too techy etc, but for me I need something a bit more unique and customisable. Also Apple products are so common now, I like to be different.

Why I got the iPad
I wanted the iPad mainly because I use my HTC mobile so much for web browsing, emailing and much more and I was starting to reach the limitations of what I could do. The iPad offers a much larger screen for my mobile, obviously and a much easier to use keyboard which is basically essiential for what I want to do. Being the Admin of this forum and owning other websites too, it is just perfect for keeping on top of things and sorting out any issues someone may have as soon as possible. I also sell many products online, and having a larger eBay application allows me to do more of a professional job than on the smaller screen.

Attractions
Of course one of the other big attractions is the App store. I've played many games on iPods, iPhones but I've never really like playing games with such a small screen, the iPad is perfect for HD gaming, as they call it. Just a few days ago I was playing a 69 pence game and it goes in my list of the top 10 games I've ever played it was that good realistic and graphically. I'm also a sucker for films, I can easily upload my films and watch them, when I want to without having to worry about saving battery like on my phone. The need to  have contact on my mobile is too important so I couldnt risk running the battery down to watch a film.

WiFi and Accesssories
As mentioned in the title, I got the WiFi only version of the iPad this is mainly due to the fact that my phone does all the things the 3G can do but also that I can use my phone as a WiFi router if I require anyway, so along as I have signal I can be only whenever I want to be. Another reason is that I went over my 500mb data usage on my phone by 5Gb in the first 7days of the month. My wallet was very light after that.
I got the black IPad with a black leather Smart cover. Black was the only choice and the black leather was a gift, and it does look great. I also bought a silicon case for the back of the iPad and a screen protector just in case. (pardon the pun).
The sound quality on the iPad is amazing, super clear and not like any other sound you would get from other tablets. The base is there and I'm really surprised at how loud it can get.

Issues
I have had a few issues with it though, Safari sometimes crashes. Believe it or not, this is the second time I've written this review. This version was written in notes first and copied over. Also the cameras are fairly poor, I expect much better cameras in the next iPad update. Oh an not forgetting that there is not Flash, which my phone does have which can sometimes be a huge issue seeing as Flash contributes a lot in some websites.

Little Good Things
Little things that they have thought about is people with little hands. Sometimes when your holding your iPad it's very difficult to type. With iOS 5 you can slide the keyboard into halves so you can use your thumbs to type while holding it. Very thoughtfull.

Finish Off
I think I'm going to finish this review off with a congratulations. The head designer at Apple who practically got Apple out of debt in the old days of Apple received a Knighthood this New Year and I also believe he was British. Hooorah

With regard to crashing, make sure your iPad is on the latest firmware. That bug was fixed in the later versions.

And yes, I agree, the iPad is way behind the times when it comes to cameras. The new one that's coming out should have a much higher res. camera.

In the newest Android update, Flash support has been taken out, and much more websites are using HTML5, so that shouldn't be a problem for you.

Congrats!

Stay on 5.0.1 so you can jailbreak when Redsn0w releases for A5 chips. :D

5.0.1 is the latest firmware. Considering he got it for Xmas and 5.0.1 has been out since November, I think it is safe to say he is on that firmware.

^^^ Take that Caro.

My mother bought my step-dad's iPad about four months early, and last year, my PS3, six months early.

It was bought mid Decemeber but I only got it on Xmas day. It wasnt bought direct from Apple so I wasnt exactly surprised that I was on iOS 5 anyway.

Its still crashing though, what pisses me off is that its mostly forums and blogs. Sites with lots of text and images when it crashes.
I know im not the only one because theres alot of people chatting about it on Apple's forums, so im gonna start bugging Apple Support if it happens again.
