" jackaljade said: This is by far one of the worst games I've played. I completed it just yesterday. If I had to review this game, I'de give it a 1 out of 10.It's so bad, because the game has so much potential on every level to be great, but the developers absolutely flounder this opportunity. No wonder it was snubbed at the gaming awards. And the reason they flounder this opportunity? Because the game is entirely pretentious. It seems to think it's a lot better than it actually is. If it stopped beleiving that, then maybe it would actually be great. This game is an example of style over substance.Your expected to take the story seriously, but they certainly don't. The game is littered with contradictions. Here's some:For an assassin, you pretty much make yourself well-known to alot of people. Anonymity would be an assassins best friend, but yet Ezio goes about town like a celeb. Why's he so regally adorned? If he's meant to be blending in, why isn't he dressed in simple clothing? How is it Ezio is a free-runner even before he becomes an assassin? Okay he's a messenger boy, and that would explain him being able to free-run, but it would have made an assassin more believable and more bad-ass if free-running was something only they could do, kind of like a superhero ability. It seems everyone in the game is an amateur free-runner. So what's so special about an assassin?Thats just a few things. Not to mention the problems with the gameplay mechanics. For one thing, for a stealth game and a game with assassin in the title, you can play the entire game without ever behaving like an assassin. Simply because combat is so darn easy. I went through the entire without spending any of my currency on new moves, weapons, or armour. Why use stealth when it's easier to just run in and face an army of ten or more, because all you have to do is hold R1 and press square repeatedly for counter kills, which is basically equivalent to button bashing. The few times the game tries to force you to play with stealth (when your desynchronised because your detected) your just left wondering 'okay fair enough, but why is it game over? why has the game taken away my choice to fight my way out? especially as I've been fighting all the way through?'.The day/night cycle is a joke, especially for an assassin's game. Because it seems there's no way of keeping track of it. It just seems to go from day to night in the time you were veiwing a cut scene. Take for example Far Cry 2 (now that's a game), you could take a nap and choose to carry out a mission at night, and that would directly effect how the mission played out as oppossed to day. Can the same be said for AC2. It's just another example of style over substance.I played the entire game without having a clue about the story. Not because the story was confusing, but I just didn't care, because the story failed to draw me in.I could go on, but I'll just get angry. This game is a joke, simply because it could have been great, the concept is brilliant, but it fails to stay true to the concept.
I read what you said.
You say that the story is weak, but you said that you didn't follow it. I found it interresting. If you read all the codex, you will understand about assassin's principles. Free-running isn't something only for the assassins. The clothes and the overall style is totatlly assumed by Ubi.
I know that there are flaws but don't be such a hater. you should take plaisure in playing, if not, do somethng else. "
