AT&T is getting rid of a text messaging plan that allows subscribers to send and receive 1,000 messages for $10 per month.
AT&T has confirmed a leaked screenshot obtained by Engadget (below), which outlines the changes AT&T is making to its messaging plans August 21.
Future subscribers must choose between an unlimited texting plan for $20 per month, an unlimited texting plan for families of up to five lines for $30 per month, or pay for individual texts at $0.20 per pop ($0.30 if it’s a message containing a multimedia element).
Existing customers will be able to keep their current plans, even when changing handsets.
An AT&T representative cited the popularity of unlimited texting plans among new customers as the reason for the change.
