AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011

Hello,

I've been using AVG for a while now, and I've never once had a problem with it, I've seen some very mixed reviews and opinions of it, but I personally feel it's one of the best and biggest well known free anti virus solutions available on the net.

The free version comes with the following as standard:

Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, LinkScanner, Resident Shield, Email Scanner, Update Manager, Free License for ever, Anti-Rootkit, PC Analyzer, Identity Protection.

AVG isn't annoying at all, it doesn't popup every 2 minutes within an alert warning you of an update, like avast! Anti Virus does for example. AVG just gets on with it taking care of your PC while you get on with your work.

I was very impressed when using the rootkit scanner, I selected "Full Scan", set it to "High priority" (which can slow your PC down) and it completed the scan in a shocking 1 minute 22 seconds, now I haven't used a rootkit scanner before, so I don't know how it compares to others, but I was pretty impressed with that.

So, if your looking for a good anti virus product that's free, try out AVG.

I might give it a go, AVG is good but i don't think it works well with major viruses.

When did you last use AVG? AVG 2011 is highly improved, rootkit scanner, analyzer, etc weren't there in previous versions I don't think.

You should give it a second change, it's highly improved in my opinion.

I agree with Evil, it doesn't really get rid of Remote Access Trojans. I've tested, and it was detected by MalwareBytes.

Yeah, id get it but its a free anti virus and you can't expect it to be as good as a paid one, and i normally get big viruses when ever i get them which avg normally doesn't detect,

Yes with this i agree AVG is for web browsing on safe sites it cannot stop many viruses once infected.

Isn't it bad to be using two anti viruses? I thought they backfire or something and they both conflict and slow your computer down.
