Avoiding Rep Whores

This is to you Philly.

There is a huge problem on this site with rep whores.

It is way to easy to get loads of rep just by giving another user rep.

My suggestion is that you limit the amount of rep a user can give a day. My suggestion would be 4 or 5. This will help out the problem we have.

I hope you will do something about this soon and hopefully you can reset the rep also.

@Shift it will be worth it in the long run. It's necessary to get the rep controlled. Before the site was reset and the rep I had 1,000 rep. I lost it all. I was mad for a little while but it was necessary.

Resetting the rep now it also necessary. I know you worked for it but so have I. It needs to be done. There are way too many rep whores. You can do more giveaways and regain the rep you got.

No matter what there will always be rep whores. If there was an obvious way of showing how much rep that member has given out then that would make people not want to give as much since it looks bad.

Guys, rep4repping is a curable desiese but it is a long and tough road to recovery. It may be difficult, and many of you will commit suicide due to the rigor of this task but their is a hotline to help you out @ 1-5555-CURE-R4R

Talk to Beats or Cannibal or even i, we were all once victims of the dangerous LQ viral virus known as "Repwhoring". At first it seems like fun to have the most of something, but as you gain more and others notice how you gain it through invalid reasons you start to get hated by the community. It's ok, you will get through it :')

+1. When you say limit the number of rep you can give in a day to 4 or 5, do you mean times you can give rep or the amount of rep? Needs to be cleared up a little I think.

Resetting everyone's reputation and changing the amounts of reputation that can be given won't fix anything. Soon after, people will just start complaining that having 200 or 300 reputation is "rep-whoring" because of the smaller amounts of reputation that can be given. An easy way to prevent this is simply don't give reputation back to a person that randomly gives you reputation. Pretty simple.

I give rep randomly to people I think deserve it. I don't want rep in return for it, I just felt they deserve it because of a post that I agree with or something.

This really isn't a big problem, and I don't know of a fix for it. Making a limit on how many you can give wouldn't be any good, it'd be an annoyance if anything. Just ignore the people who do it, and laugh at them.

I see what you mean by this, I view some people's rep and all of their positives just have random comments. I don't think there is any immediate fix for this, the only thing you can really do is use the rep correctly, and hopefully others will do the same.

This is a really nice solution.
IMO, it would be better to limit it to two each day.
