There's copyright laws for a reason. It's not un-neccesary, it's protecting your work.

I know protecting your work is necessary, but for example, Facebook got sued for 600M because they stole an idea. Well, JaGex stole majority of their ideas from other games.

They are even making a like... "CityVille" (My sis played it), re-make, 8 realms. They can't make an own game, and protecting pictures, I mean, thats not needed at all?

Theres tons of remakes of games though, I do believe you can take the basic idea of a game and just alter it enough so it's somewhat original in your favour.

JaGeX doesn't care. The only people they have shut down have been people that abuse the game rules itself, and it really takes a lot for them to open a lawsuit against them. It's just simply not worth it for them. It's not an issue the management team would have to worry about. If they felt it was an issue, they'd first send a DMCA, then if we kept ignoring the issue, they might, MIGHT, open a lawsuit against us.

TLDR; not an issue, nothing will ever happen.

Okay the arguments at the moment are:

- You might get a lawsuit for using Jagex copyrighted pictures.
- No we will be fine, a bunch of other websites use it.
- Yes but they are either official website, endorsed or affiliated with Jagex in some way.

Runescape wiki benefits Jagex in many many ways, they're here to help them and they may even have personal permission to use them.
RuneGear on the other hand, we are full of botters, real world traders and tips on a bunch of things they don't encourage, we don't benefit Jagex.
