It's not that I can't speak them, I'm just not interested in learning those languagesSpace Time said:If you can't speak Spanish/French with ease then you won't be able to speak fluently with other languages without spending years and years on it.

I am in the United States, I was thinking German. But I am going to Basic Training in a few months. I was thinking of maybe learning German, or possibly Italian since my dad speaks it fluently.coltie2 said:It depends what plans you have in life. Spanish is probs the best for staying in the United States. But if you plan to travel out of the country I would pick something fun like german or french.(Assuming you are in the United States)... German is cool, but it can sound angry sometimes. I myself took french. It was fun but I have not used it a single day after taking the class.

Does spanish have a type of relation with German? I always thought of German as completely different. But that is true Spanish/French are somewhat of a base language to learn othersSpace Time said:Well develop your skills on those two.
Force yourself to learn them.
Its the two easiest languages and without them you won't be able to do more complex languages properly such as German.
But yeah I'd suggest German. It simply sounds good. And if you've had some experience in Spanish its fairly simple
