Basically, just announce that you will do this same point system thing, except dont show the points and don't announce the exact day the contest will take place. For example, just announce that random invisible point systems will take place on some random day, and the people who get the most points from start-to-finish of that day wins the prize.

Because if you show the points, people just spam to win. Those spammers are hated by everyone, and they will get 50M which is ridiculous. It should be a daily thing. E.g some people did not post as much before the competition. We should not hold contests just so people will spam to win, we want a constructive community.

Or have a contest based on HQ posts only. I've seen some people on here make shitty posts simply to win, it's disgusting.

I saw someone post "I totallllllyyyy agreeeeeeeeeeeee" or something similar just so it would be > 30 characters and count for points..

That probably would work but defeats the whole purpose of the contest

Contest's point is to get something. People will always post because they don't know what day the contest is..

Making the points invisible will just make the spam worse. People won't see their points, panic, then post as much as possible.

Point of the contest is to promote the forum with more posts and if you don't even tell people when the contest is you defeat the whole purpose of it

What should happen is staff get to note down hq posts and we count those, ones that are really worthy then we total them up, means lq/ not really good decent posts dont get recognised.

That sounds like ALOT of work

Why o' why are we going through this again? Each and every time there's a point system contest it leads to chaos in the community and ends in bans. Haven't we learned that this won't work each and every time we've tried it? I mean seriously... I thought we had already come to a consensus that there would never be a contest like this again.

This is a fantastic idea.

I completely agree. IMO, we should only be able to view our own points, just like warnings.

To be honest, the only way to even win is too spam and be LQ. That's why I knew I would never win. People have like 5x my points but half my posts are probably much more thought out and meaningful. They all run on the "I post and win 50m, awesome" and treat it different then normal posting. I haven't treated it differently, but will get nothing for it.

I do not believe that counting and looking for HQ posts is practical. Any contest that involves encouraging members to post is always a hassle. Perhaps a referral contest would suit us best.

definitely not a referral contest, I can see way too much failure.

Yea...I realized that if we host a referral contest, someone could easily pay their friends to sign up and never post again.

I was going to say something similar to this, although it would be a lot of work for the staff team.
I was just suggesting that the members of the community do a kind of "Report" on the High Quality posts, and the user with the most High Quality posts wins?

Great idea!

A new report option for contests like this, "High Quality". Would submit the post for review to staff and then if they agree that it's a high quality post, it's counted in the contest. Absolutely fantastic idea, I like it a lot.
