We she color by how we perceive light, darker areas will make it appear blue and black, while in lighted areas it will appear white and gold. The true color of it has to be white and gold though.

The actual dress is blue and black. This is just an optical illusion caused by that bright light and the terrible picture quality. If you modify the levels a bit to take in account for the shitty lighting it is obviously blue/black.

the two colour ranges are as follows.

#73633D thru #7D6F4A which equates to Brown.
#5F5F70 thru #889ABA which is blue/violet tinted.

If you try to argue that it's about how your brain percieves shadows, I will skullfuck you to death.

The question is not What colour is the dress, when looked at in a vacuum with no camera saturation issues (which is what it is), 

In the photo, regardless of what you want it to look like irl, when you see it.. it's Brown and Blue.
