Brainwashing Children at Schools

I was reading about how a 6 year old child learned at school that God created the world in 6 days.

A religious teacher, sat all the students down, and made them watch a cartoon on creationism. I mean, fair enough if she actually made them watch a video on evolution as well, and showed both sides, it would have been fine, but she didn't.

So the children were convinced that God created the world and everything in 6 days, blah, blah blah, and parents had to sit and explain loads of contradictions in the Bible, and explain to them on evolution theory and such.

What my point is, they shouldn't be trying to brainwash kids about God when they're only 6, I believed that it was all fact, and that we all came from two people.

If they're gonna teach that, they should give both theories, not just one.

What do you guys think?

It's not illegal in some countries.
In the UK, some boarding schools force students to go to chapel every day, no matter which religion you are.
They even force jewish students to abandon their religion's teachings to go to school on saturday.

This is mainly a problem in the US from what I hear. Where I live, England, it is the curriculum for evolution to be taught in science, and for religious studies lessons, creationism can be expressed. That way children have a balanced opinion on what they can believe about the matter. In my opinion creationist views are completely flawed.

Yes, in america the teachers usually push their religous opinions on others, in one of my classes a kid said 'Oh God' and the teacher tore at her saying 'You don't ever say that word'

I think creationsim is flawed too, but that's my opinion.

This is the stuff that makes me angry. That intolerance of speech is irritating. I know this opens up a whole different topic, but considering 'Oh God' a curse word is outrageous.

True, my reply was only looking at it from an American stand point, how shallow of me. I do find it wrong as I said in another thread, I think every one should experience every religion out there equally before making their decision.

Schools are the best tools to brainwash since they teach these things to kids from a very early age...
It should of course change so that the kid can believe whatever it wants, and it will only learn the real truth

Anyways, yes I agree, they should be able to belive what they want to after learning all the facts from both sides.

In my school it is illegal to use influencing methods of religion or to even teach it in general.

I think that Religious Education should not be mandatory and that from a young age Children should be taught both sides. Creationism and Evolution, they should not just be taught Evolution in Science, it should be taught in R.E aswell. Although I think that by the age of 11 or so Children should be allowed to make the choice to carry on R.E or not.

In grade 8 my teacher was a religious nut and he was trying to use biology to prove christ and failing on his ass. At the time I was a Jew so I still thought he was a moron but now I see he is a COMPLETE moron.

From K-4th grade I went to a Christian Private School, we learned about creation and everything the Bible has to tell. It was a CHRISTIAN school. But as soon as I got into public schools, it has been 100% evolution with not a mention of God. Maybe it was just the schools and colleges I went to, but there is no mention of God in class.

I was at Texas Christian University, and you were required to take one or two religion classes. But they had multiple choices of what religions you could learn about, or all of them.

I think it's just a locational thing.

Because in America, (unless it's a Catholic/Christian school) that's illegal. You can't preach to kids.
