Building a Signature

Well guys here is a guide I've been writing since I was bored :S

While following tutorials is helpful, most of them don't actually teach you how to build a signature. If you want to improve, and start making original works of your own, then the best method is to try and understand the creation process for each individual part of a signature.

Let's break down a signature...

The Render:

The Main Colors:

The Background:

Now once you break down a signature into individual layers, it becomes more a game of adding simple things together to make one complex piece of work. Let's go further and break down each individual part of the signature to see how it was made.

Primary Colors:
To start off, you should choose the colors of your signature. Place the render in a desired location, choose 2-3 colors from the render, and fill your background with these colors. In this instance, I use a strong color, weak color, and then a white to soften the edges. I applied this to the background using a Radial Gradient tool.

Building the Background:
The background can be broken down further into individual pieces. There is no correct way to build a background, so methods may vary. Have fun with it.

And a New Layer - Image > Apply Image > Filter > Sharpen for good measure.

Once your background is built, you can start blending the render . Just remember to have fun.
