Buying a laptop

I really need to buy a laptop asap. My maximum budget is $1200. I'll need it for university work and probably some heavy gaming.

Obviously since I'll need it for college, it should be able to handle tons of word/ppt/excel/pdf/etc documents. I'm also going to use it for graphics designing and perhaps some cinematography (video editing). I've never really liked macbooks.

I've researched a lot and narrowed down my options to the Lenovo Y510P, Lenovo Y500 and HP ENVY 15t-j000. What do you guys think?

if you're after a gaming laptop then look into MSI's laptop range, most HP's are pretty shocking at gaming. lenovo Y500 isn't bad but you should be able to get better for the budget, (MSI)

Best advice I can give you is to split up your money to buy two different computers. The power of gaming comes at the price of portability, so I say build your own custom desktop PC to gaming, and to buy a small netbook for portability and school use.

I just bought a bad ass HP on their website. I customized it on the site. It's pretty good. I paid $1,000 for it. I would recommend doing what I did.

Go to hp.com and select a computer that you want. Then pick one that is customizable. Then put what you want in it. You can also pay with PayPal which is really cool.

Hope I helped.

I got a nice macbook off of the bestbuy auctions website for only $300, I love the thing even though that's not what you're looking for I would look into it if I was you.

I'm not really going to game a lot, just every once in a while. I don't really like the MSI, too thick and heavy.

Nah, I'm not interested in a gaming desktop. Like I said, I won't use it much for gaming. I'll use it mostly for designing, watching movies, web browsing and university assignments.

Sounds cool. What exactly did you buy?
