This is old news but what the hell. Do you think the hit on Pacioretty by Chara last week was dirty? In case you missed the game because you don't watch hockey or you live under a rock, here it is.

Some people say that it was a clean hit and Max was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time but then there are people that beg to differ that Chara should know better than to pin someone at that spot.

The verdict has spoken and Chara will not be punished. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=555520

eeehhh i used to play hockey and im kinda in the middle here

no it wasnt dirty
Its hockey, the dude is taking that risk when he steps on the ice of being hit

yes it was dirty
he was in a awkward position with the bored, no glass to kinda cushion it. and he was reaching for the puck so whole body exposed and probably didnt need the hit

Of course it's hockey but that's why there's a rule book that allows the game to played within a certain reasoning.

Chara's been playing in the NHL long enough to know his surroundings and therefore can make a fair call on where not to corner someone.

According to the NHL rule book, if the offender is within stick distance from the player he's about to hit when he gave the puck away, the offender can still commit to the hit without being penalized. But if the player gave the puck away and the offender strikes him too long afterwards, he's clearly going for something other than the puck which is a foul.

Look at the video and you'll see how late after Pacioretty gave away the puck Chara hits him.

Let's face it, he saw an opportunity to strike, and he took it, was it dirty? Yes, but who's fault is it in the end, he set himself up for a hurtin'
