No offense, this is a bad idea. Forums and chat boxes just shouldn't be mixed together. It takes posts away, and they just don't go together. As Ireppgold suggested, talk to them via Skype/MSN.

To me, in no instance is a chatbox on a forum beneficial.

Well, maybe something like this as it integrates pretty well with MyBB. It can just be on another page and you can login to it with your forum account.
