Call me a crazy man, mad man, or whatever you want but consider this...
Christmas, a fat guy coming down our chimney and leaving some presents, wtf? As far as I know Christmas is for celebrating Jesus birth, not some fat guy coming and giving us gifts.
Where did this fat guy come from? Saint Nicholas, wtf?
We have forgotten that we have to celebrate about Jesus, and we've been 'honoring' (in some way) that guy with a white beard.
In Spain it is supposed that the Three Kings go and leave the presents. But kinda don't agree with it but at least makes a little of sense because they were the ones that gave Jesus some gifts when he was born, not a fat guy that appeared from no where.

So guys, what do you think? Where did Santa come from? Has everyone forgotten the birth of Jesus? What is the REAL point in Christmas? (Please don't troll about the last question)

P.S: I'm not very religious but while doing homework I just thought of this.
BTW, this is in the
Debate or debating is a method of interactive and representational argument. Debate is a broader form of argument than logical argument, which only examines consistency from axiom, and factual argument, which only examines what is or isn't the case or rhetoric which is a technique of persuasion. Though logical consistency, factual accuracy and some degree of emotional appeal to the audience are important elements of the art of persuasion, in debating, one side often prevails over the other side by presenting a superior "context" and/or framework of the issue, which is far more subtle and strategic.
section, so this is to debate ideas and thoughts, so please respect my thinking and I'll respect yours.

Christmas either way you look at it is celebrated honoring fictional characters.

(i.e Jesus and Santa)

Mmm, also agree with that, there is no solid proof that Jesus walked on earth.
But still, it is a belief for a lot of people, is Saint Nicholas mentioned in the bible? (I don't know)

Jesus has been shown in several historic records as an actual person. Whether or not he was the son of some higher "god" is the debate on Jesus.

Back to the question, commercialism is your answer. Stores hype up Christmas so people will buy things. Its just like Easter, what does a bunny have to do with Jesus rising from the grave? Or eggs? Rabbits are mammals, they don't lay eggs.

how do you know that the "proof" or people providing the "proof" of this jesus shithead walking on our planet is real? who cares if he is real or not? its not affecting us so why the fuck worship the stupid jew? I'd rather sit here drinking my 23 flavored Dr.Pepper and a little bit of my Pabst Blue ribbon beer while beating my 2 month old baby boy up against my fat girlfriends face. mmmm... with a box of donuts...

It's funny because Jesus wasn't even born on the 25th of December.

He was born mid july but they celebrate his birth on the 25th of December because they made it "Co-incide" with the Pagan holiday known as "Yule"

Fuck religion.

F*ck religion.

I like you. religion has been molded around by people to help support businesses and their economy as a whole some places it is used to benefit just the people at the top.

To start:

Most religions have their deity born or created around the solstice - Christianity is no exception here; it wasn't the first. Then people start saying "happy holidays" and being offended because it's the "Christmas season". No, it's the solstice season.

Now for religious/holiday symbols:

There's a legend about Saint Nick which turned to Santa Clause - I don't know the full story so I won't try to explain what I don't know.

I do beleive this jesus guy existed but dont beleive this mystical bullshit about him being the son of god, i just think he was the martin lutha king of 100 AD and hes story is a consiquence of chinese whispers.

Anyway religion targets weak people and gives them hope, so it isnt a bad thing.

Dont get me started on who i think this santa guy was he sounds more like a stalker who climbs down your chimley and leaves your 9 year old daughter gifts.

But none the less i get time off work and have an excuse to get off my nut so alls good.
