Clove Oil , Is It Really effective Against Tooth Ache?

I heard many people saying that Clove oil is effective in tooth ache! But I never could get any relief from it and I had to get my tooth extracted as there was a cavity in it! What is your experience ? Can clove oil stop tooth ache? Kindly respond! Thanks !
