Mashable made its first official foray into Turntable.fm last Friday with its own room. This week, we’re partnering with The Musebox, along with MB3 Records and artist Gavin Friday, to pack even more jams in your ears (and the space between them).
If you’re unfamiliar with Turntable.fm, you may want to clear your schedule. The startup, which is still in beta, offers a series of user-created chatrooms complete with head-bobbing avatars. DJs (a.k.a. you and others) can play songs, vote on how âlameâ or âawesomeâ those songs are, score points for picking good tunes, and chat with others in a sidebar. There are five DJ slots in every room. You can choose songs from a MediaNet-powered library or upload your own. Sadly, the site is no longer open to anyone outside the U.S., as Turntable has to comply with the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Today, we’ll have Mashable staff (including myself) on the decks in the Summer Fridays Room, spinning tracks alongside Gavin Friday, formerly of the Virgin Prunes, who recently released his first album in 16 years catholic, as well as his own iPhone app [iTunes link].
We may also have some surprise guests, so stop by and bob your head for a while.
