and how it correlates with capitalism.

I believe that commercialism is corrupting everything as we know, along with capitalism. Commercialists have been ruining everyday life for everyone, everywhere. One example would be Hollywood films, every 30 seconds you can see an ad, all in the name of capitalism. If you see an advertisement, and you buy stuff because of it, you are supporting capitalism through those damned commercialists.

I will discuss further thoughts with further posts.

Indeed. Whenever I see cola in a video I crave for it.

Although advertising is a big part of marketing, it's not really as big as everyone makes it out to be.
I know a lot of people that just buy things because it's what they've had and/or enjoy the most.

I am the same way.

When I go out to get groceries or something, I always go out to eat.
When I go to the store, I always get a Pepsi or Sprite and hot Cheetos.
When I go to McDonald's I always get a southern style chicken sandwich.
When I go to Subway I always get an oven roasted chicken breast foot-long w/ pickles, lettuce, red onions, and American cheese.

If I go into a place and see they have something, I'll buy it if it looks good, but if I see it in a TV ad I have almost know more motivation than before. (Unless it's a video game or movie.)

It is true that this industry is incredibly large and for every ad and commercial there has been several psychologists who have thought out the best way to work the mind of ours into making us relate the ad and commercial to happiness, joy or what fits their product and style the best. It is incredible how much they think of just to make an commercial, even a picture ad. It has to be remembered, and with positive thoughts when we watched it, we will later in the store directly find it more attractive than the other products as we first, recognize it and relate that to it being famous, wellknown etc but also the happy thought with it being good. It's sick.

Secondly, it's hard to avoid consumerism or over-consumption when you mention this which is also directly related to capitalism. It has lead to many problems today but it wasn't the topic.
And... then also very related to materialism. All of which are bad things of course.
