I'm going to order a new gaming PC. This is a home build I have never done one before. I think these components will run games like Far Cry 3, CoD's, Minecraft and Borderlands but i'm not sure.

Any suggestions or improvements please comment.

Proccesor and Graphics card will run these games just fine but I suggest get a higher PSU to around 750W.

agreed.
perhaps push to a 900W PSU. depends on if you plan on adding GFX cards (whether upgrade or Crossfire/Sli) or extra HDD's or more RAM in the future.

other than that, looks good

They'll both be pushing budget, would the system be ok with 550w. Also not planning to upgrade this for at least a year.

I mean it could run with a 550W but it would be really close to push the system that much.

What you have looks quite good. One question, why not an i7?

Too expensive at the moment, an upgrade for the future.

Downgrade the SSD and get an i7. Common sense really.

Yes, and no. I currently got an SSD and an i3. Works fine, just if he had both, that would be better.
