Kevin Stinson: Charged with criminal sexual conduct wit ha minor.
A man who used texts to set up sex in a park with a 13-year-old girl took his three children along to the appointed meeting place, according to the County Sheriff's office.
The police report says the 13-year-old's parents called police on July 6 after they found text on their daughter's phone going back to March, and a photograph 25-year-old Kevin Dustin Stinson. The parents said the police didn't follow up, so they went to the Sheriff's Office on Monday.
A Sheriff's Office investigator said there were messages on the phone in which the girl admitted she was 13 and Stinson said he was 25 with three children and that he would be coming to Union from Lockhart while his girlfriend was at work. In messages, Stinson said he would bring his three children, 6, 8, and 11, along with him and would have them play in the park while he and the teen had sex either in the woods or the park restroom.
On Monday, an investigator used the phone to send texts to Stinson and arranged for the meeting for sex at Foster Park. Deputies said Stinson and the three children showed up at the dock on the park, and when a text was sent asking him to walk toward the bathroom, he complied. He was taken into custody by undercover officers near the restroom.
The police report said when Stinson realized he was about to be arrested, he tossed his cell phone into the pond. The phone was recovered from the pond and put into evidence.
Investigators said Wednesday that the teen and Stinson met on the Hangouts app.
His rapsheet is over 30 pages long.
Stinson is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and attempting a lewd act.
