I dont think so, I think the guy was just very fucked up. I heard that he even dyed his hair red in tribute for the Joker.

He was just like alot of the ppl who have done such things, He was a shy person didnt talk much... i think he'll probably commit suicide somehow once his whole publicity is over. he cant be touched by a prisoner right now cause i think he is in isolation.
