For or Against?
I'm all for it. Yeah I know some disagree with me but if your going to be a dumbass and kill somebody they deserve it back right? And I'm not talking about all this instant death injection shit. I want pain as much as possible. IDC about constitution, these aren't people. They are killing pieces of shit that no one in society with a mind care about.

Even though I am Catholic and I'm supposed to be "against" it. I'm actually for it now. I used to be against, but I found out a lot of stuff when I researched the Death Penalty for a project as well as Psychology class debate.

Even though the Bible says "You shall not kill." Directly translated from Hebrew it really says "You shall not murder." Killing someone in self defense isn't murder, so that's negotiable if it happens. Murder itself is punishable by death, because murder is the illegal act of killing, the death penalty does it by legal means in order to bring justice. It's legal in the world sense, but illegal in a spiritual sense, for whatever reason.

The death penalty does work, it just needs to be enforced more in my opinion.

I do believe that they should be sentenced to death if committed multiple murders.

I do also believe torture should happen if someone commits TONS of murders.

In all seriousness, it depends on the offense. Some executions have just plainly been over the limit with regards to the infraction the murderer has committed while others suit it perfectly. My final verdict is that it's unnecessary, the reason being; what gives us humans the right to decide who lives and who dies? By executing another human being, we are only lowering ourself to the criminal's level.

We're a brilliant civilization. I'm sure we can find other ways of punishing convicts.

And lastly, most of the people in this thread that have or will agree in favor of the death penalty have most likey never been to jail. Spend one night in solitary confinement and I later welcome you to edit your post.

An eye for an eye (Makes the whole world blind), is the actual quote. This can also correspond to the saying "two wrongs don't make a right".

By sentencing someone to death, you're essentially murdering them. You're punishing someone for their crime(s) by committing another crime.

Anyway, I think life in prison is much worse than death itself.

I think that lethal injection should be the farthest that the death penalty should go.
As far as OP is stating, other methods of death is uncivilized and would make our country look sadistic.
Depending on the occasion, the death penalty should be brought upon.

I believe the death penalty should only be brought up in the case of murder. You kill someone you be killed. Simple as that.

If you see a monster in your closet, do you fight against it or do you follow it's footsteps. By killing a serial killer or someone whom did a terrible crime is only mimicking the action to which they performed, making you no less worthy to death then who you killed.

I am against it.

I do agree with the death penalty, but only in some cases.

Personally, I feel that the family of the victim should be allowed to decide their fate.

If I was the father of a little girl and some sick, demented guy decided to rape and kill her... I would want to deliver as much pain to them as possible. I should be able to tie him up, rip his teeth out with pliers, shove shards of glass under his fingernails, and then piss on his body when I am done. Then after that, let him rot in jail for the rest of his life because I personally believe living in segregation for the rest of your life would be much worse then a "painless" lethal injection.

I do not believe in forgiveness when it comes to sex offenders, pedophiles, murderers, etc..

I think it depends on the situation honestly, I mean if they clearly had intent and planned on killing the person I agree on painful death. But if it was something that just kinda happened real quickly, like walking in on your spouse cheating on you or something like that, you should get life in prison.

Oh my god. I hope i never meet you in real life. Haha.

I believe that death penalty should be used when someone is proven guilty of murdering someone in an extreme case.

Murder is murder, it doesn't really matter what stress/situation you were in (unless it was self-defense, or by accident, but those are completely different).

Even though the whole "a life for a life" thing makes sense, I think it would be more painful rotting in jail for the rest of your life. But even so, like my last post said, the family of the victim should choose the fate of the convicted person(s).

Only if it is 1st degree in my opinion. I also don't like the death penalty, seems like they are getting "the easy way out" Let 'em rot in jail the rest of their life.

Jail's not that bad, just don't drop the soap. ;)
