Im on a 6 yearold laptop. The only ups about it is that it sounds like dubstep :tongue2: when it runs.

$500 isn't going to be enough for a gaming build. Might wanna increase your budget to $700.

I would recommend you to go for Intel actually. Intel i7 2600K , suited for gaming.

Hyper-threading is useless. Plus it's too much for his budget. CPU isn't main factor for gaming.

It's not useless at all dude. Well, we can reduce to i5 2500K or i5 2500 if he doesn't OC. Also you can get Nvidia 560 Ti @ 1GB.
Sandy bridge CPU are all suited for gaming.

Not suited for his budget? You recommended a $160 HDD ._.
If you buy that for Runescape, your an idiot.
I made that build before the floods. Because of floods, HDD prices went up.

Floodslolwut? And your saying they've risen from $160..
/facepalm
Shop around. There's loads of HD's for under $70.

This ^
They are good for general stuff though, just not great for use with resource intensive software/games.

Spending $300 on a computer imo is a waste, and spending $2000+ is just stupid. And RAM decreases the load and processing time for applications. So in a way, it does speed up your computer ._.

Learn to use common sense. Floods flooded there factory. There was shortage of HDD. So they risen price.

Hyperthreading is only useful if he was to be rendering. But I have to agree with i5 2500k. It's $100 cheaper than i7 2600k'/2700k.

i7 2700k is $350. -.-

But his budget is only $500, i5 2500k just pushes his budget too far.

But since bots aren't running anymore, are you actually going to turn it into a gaming pc? 500 dollar budget wont get you a lot.
