I will add sis, there are more Muslims groups here in our country and the three main groups are Tausug, Maranao and Maguindanao. There were also small groups like Samals and Bajaus, Yakans, the Ilanons and Sangirs, the Melabugnans and the Jama Mapuns. The smaller groups were mostly located in some areas in the Philippines, like in the part of Mindanao, Palawan, Cagayan Islands and more. They were mostly identified based on their language. I had many Muslim friends and classmate when I was in elementary and High School and each group uses some words/languages which differ from other group.

I am not sure how it differs from other countries and I would love to hear them as well.

I am not a Muslim but I lived in a Muslim community here in the Philippines. Well, those Muslims are from the different parts of the Middle East since I had a Muslim boyfriend before. Actually, if we take a look at it, there are not so many differences in terms of their practices. They follow the same things - pray five times in a day, go to the mosque, they don't eat pork and they seem very religious to me. The down side is if I have to say, I am quite aware the alcohol is prohibited in their religion but they drink too much on it. (Pardon me, but that's what I noticed with my boyfriend and if I am wrong about alcohol being prohibited, then I apologize.)

The Philippine Muslims, perhaps do the same things except of course, cultural differences and nationalities make them different from other Muslims in different parts of the globe.

You are right that drinking alcohol is prohibited in Islam and considered as Haram. From what I read here, you are correct that they only differ on their dialects or 2nd mother tounge languages. But the rest of our belief in 1 God Allah SWT and our remembrance and respect to the beloved Prophet Mohd were all the same. We are all reading Quran as our Holy testament and we use other books like Hadiths as a supporting tool for better understanding. We are all identical when it comes to prayer starting from the Adhan (Athan) the way of calling the believers to pray and from the actual prayer we are using the Arabic Language. I can tell you exactly those things coz I worked in the middle east and I had seen different races and witness the unity in our religion.

Bangladesh Muslims speaks Bangla or Punjabi
Saudi or Arabs speaks Arabic
India speaks Urdu or Indie
Pakistan speaks Urdu
Indonesia speaks Bahasa

So it's the culture and the society that affects the language from where they originated. Not all Muslims are drinking alcohol but we cannot deny the fact that there are people borne hard headed and some were influenced by their social environment to violate the rulings in Islam, as what we see in other religions as well. Yes, every religion has a violator members and that's the fact.

I was a christian before and just switched to Islam 2 years ago so I know the big difference. Alhamdullilah...

In my country there are a lot of people who don't like Muslims. I hate those people. I am a Christian , and i appreciate Muslim more than Christians , because Muslims are better people , and they've helped me a lot of time , and whenever i need their help they are always there for me. Also my best friend is a Muslim ,and by the way , here they are not prohibited on drinking alcohol , they drink it a lot.

It is stated in the Qur’ân: “They ask you regarding wine and gambling. Say, in both of them is major sin, and there is some benefit for men, but the sin of them is far greater than benefit ”
(Surah Baqarah)

During the early days of Islam, consumption of liquor, just like other ills and evils of society, was also prevelent.

When Rasulullah migrated from Makkah to Madinah he found that the Madinites were also indulging in drinking. The masses were so attracted by the superficial and deceptive benefits offered by drinking that their minds became oblivious of the harmful effects and the evils lurking within these addictions.

Our Prophet was the finest model who set the best example of his sublime characteristic, so much that whatever was yet to be declared Haram, His habit and nature made him detest it from the very outset. Besides Rasulullah other Sahâbâhs also refrained from consuming alcoholic beverages even when these were Halaal.

On Reaching Madinah some of Sahâbâh realised the evil in liquor. So, Hazrat Umar Farooq ., Maaz Ibn Jabal .and some of the other Sahâbâh approached Rasulullah and questioned him regarding alcohol and gambling, which they thought were ruining not only man’s intelligent but also his wealth.

In response to this query, the above verse was revealed and it constituted the first of a series of revelations leading to the final and conclusive verse, which prohibited and declared Haram both gambling and liquor.

Although the above verse dose not prohibit alcohol outright, but it never the less presents a ‘Mashwarah’ (advice) for abstaining from the usage of alcohol. This is why some of the Sahâbâh , after hearing this verse immediately stopped consuming alcohol and accepted this mashwarah.

You are right, people are getting more disrespectful because they abandoned and obliterated to study the Quran, and they believe with the false thoughts being told to them by ordinary people who doesn't have the true and correct knowledge about Islam. It is frightening to know that there are people known as "Atheist" that do not believe anymore with God and that makes them really at risk. May Allah SWT forgive them and save them from the last minute of their lives.
