That may be true, however changing everything more than once or twice will guarantee it will cancel any password reset/revert link.
Either way is fine, I contacted them via Twitter direct message and they were very helpful, however just e-mailing them will do the trick as well.

You can either fill out the form on support.snapchat.com, e-mail them using their e-mail address ([email protected]), or tweeting them @SnapchatSupport
The e-mail address that is currently on the account (on file).
