Do people really read this fast?

In movies, they flash up text that someone messaged them. Like a document or a text message, a email, anything like that for around a second then they take it off screen when it's about 4-20 lines long.

Can anyone really read that? I have to go back and pause it each time to read it >.>

Some times they put in advertisements that flash for like a millisecond and your subconscious can see what the general idea is, like coca cola or something, and the next time you see that brand it will be locked inside your subconscious and you will most likely buy it. Now with stuff like TeVo you can just fast forward through commercials, so companies are having to resort to stuff like this.

Nononono, I mean that one of the people would lift a document saying something like this:

Sometimes they just show it to make you realize that they got a text and then explain what it read through the context of story to follow. I doubt they expect you to read that fast.
