{Do you belive in god debate} Is god weak?

Guest

Well for my first debate I had something pretty good in mind. Is god weak? What I mean is how come god just lets everyone suffer, even the people that give the most. Is it because he thinks life is life and you just have to "Roll with the punches."
Crank out some opinions!

RE: {Debate} Is god weak?

You're making this thread on the assumption that everyone believes in God.

God isn't weak. He helped us every day and helped what we prayed for. Even though he did all that, he had to send done his son to get killed for our sins. I think he's backing off for awhile to see how we do on our own pretty much. I still believe he helps us with small matters and big ones alike. Such as a shot to the head and you were supposed to die but you live and get stronger or your relationship with someone is going down hill and he steps in and turns tides around. He's still there but not doing what he did in the past. He doen't want to be fully noticed. I believe we wants to see which ones have the most faith in him by not showing himself. So by that, he knows which people to take when he comes back.

Ah those are some good points you stated. I kinda agree with what you are stating, but I am really not big on the belief of Catholicism and religions alike.

I'm not a catholic and dispise that religion along with muslim and jewish. I don't hate the people but the religion itself. Im a Christian but I don't like to "hate" but it's quite hard not to. But I believe he's waiting for something to happen.

Well thank you. Like what I said in the barons group about opinion. It makes us who we are and what we believe in.

Now I'm an atheist but I know the most common argument for the "God let's bad things happen" debate. It's apparently because people need to experience grieving, hurt, anguish, pain, suffering and all things happen for a reason, even if humans are sacrificed. If there was a God I understand the part that everyone needs to learn to grieve etc, but I don't see why an earthquake killing over 1 million people can teach that.

Now let's not change the thread into a "is god real thread", and I apologize if I've instigated that, just pointed out the christian excuse for God letting suffering happen.

On Topic: IF there was a God, and is exactly how Christians perceived him then it would be stupid to question if he's weak.

I don't believe in God, I believe in self-belief and that's it. I feel it's more like a placebo effect. Too many bad things happen for God to exist.

Or

If He/She/It exists, there's no way it's like how the Bible and other "Holy" books describe it.

I believe there is a God, I don't believe that he is weak. I believe he makes some decisions and then he lets humans make some decisions themselves. He might step in every once in a while like he did in Japan. I think the reason that God created an earthquake in Japan is because Japan was developing rapidly and thought that nothing could harm them. Then I believe God stepped in and created an earthquake to remind them that God is All Powerful. Well thats just my opinion and i'm sticking with it.

Wow, so if someone works so hard that they do well, they deserve to get punished?
Sorry but that's not a good answer. Not meaning to flame but that's retarded.

EDIT: Also if "God" had to do things like that, to reminds people then He isn't really a God at all.

I also disagree with that, because America grew at a faster rate than Japan did, and they very rarely receive any natural disasters.
Actually recently there have been a lot of hurricanes there

But bit off-topic. Just was shocked at "Work hard and God will smite you"

"Work hard and God will smite you"
That may be one of the best quotes I have ever seen. That really sounds ridiculous.

I live in America and we have natural disasters weekly. From forest fires to hurricanes. We just had a hurricane, now there's been many tornadoes this past week. Great accusation though. Love that idea about God.
