Do you dream in color or black and white?

Alright so to start off, I was not aware that this question could even be asked until about 3 years ago when my Psychology teacher brought it up in class. I dream in color, and I just assumed that everyone else did too. I never even thought about the possibility of dreaming in black and white. By a show of hands, the room was about 50/50. I was and still am mind-blown that some people actually dream in black and white, and not just some of the time, but always. And our classroom was split on the result, it amazed me how common it was. Yet I was always so ignorant to the possibility. So for my own personal curiosity, how do you dream Forum Korner?

Note: Please strictly discuss this sub-topic of dreaming. In the near future I may make a thread where everyone can openly discuss everything that has to do with dreaming. For now, just answer my question and have small talk.

I haven't had a dream I remember in well over five years but I'm fairly certain the ones I used to remember were in color, could just be my mind filling in the blanks though.

From what I remember, it seems like I dream in color. That being said, I'm not certain whether I actually dream in color, or if I only remember it that way. After all, my dreams seem to fade from my memory within minutes, and then it becomes extremely difficult to recollect the contents of my dreams. Even though I would like to believe that I remember what my dreams were like, that is not a reality. To truly answer your question, I would have to say that I am uncertain of whether I dream in color or black and white. But, I would like to find an answer to this question.

Start leaving a notebook and pen next to where you sleep. Get in the habit of jotting down as much as you can remember as soon as you wake up. It may take a few weeks to actually have a dream that you remember.

I have both actually. Color and black ans white. Sometimes however, when I wake up, I forget completely what I had just had a dream about.

I dream in color, but I never knew that people could dream in black and white. That's pretty interesting to be honest.

Thanks for the answers guys! Looks like most of us dream in color so far. Good to know I wasnt the only one who wasnt aware people dreamed any differently lol.

I dream in color, and I tend to have dreams pertaining to the previous day.

I dream in colour. I have kept a dream journal for around 4/5 months under my pillow, looking back at the dreams I've had a few months back I can compare them, creepy enough some actually link to each other. I was also not aware that some dream in black and white!

Believe it or not, I usually tend to dream in black and white, on the rare occasion that I do dream at all. Dreams only occur for me about once every two weeks or so, and even during my dream state, my dreams tend to be unclear and hazy. However, thinking back on it, I can not remember ever once dreaming in color.

I'm 99% sure I dream in color.
Would be pretty crazy to do it in black & white.

Wow, that is something that I have wanted to do for a while now. Im not surprised to here that you see connections between some of them, but thats really cool.

Well, you actually do dream every time you sleep, you just dont remember it. I think the last average I heard was 8 different dreams for a full cycle of sleep. I never remember more than 3-4, or if I do, I mistake them as one dreams when they are seperated. I do find it interesting that you only remember dreaming in black and white. It makes me think, maybe you only remember your black and white dreams and I only remember my colored dreams. And the ones we dont remember are what we arent compatible with. I dont actually believe this, just a fun little idea you gave me.

Yeah, man. I see where you're coming from. Hopefully one day I can dream in color again, or at least have some recollection of it.

When i was 8 i used to have this dream and it would wake me up and i would just keep crying :'( i never knew what it was about or what the dream was.

Thats really odd. You never remembered any of it? I know its called a recurring dream, one that you have on seperate occasions. I've also had single dreams that evolved through seperate sleeping cycles. Like I would dream so much of it one night, and then a week later it would pick up where it left off and the story would continue. Crazy stuff to consider.
