i don't want to elaborate more on it as the topic is vast and i can spend days writing on this topic.i personally feel that even if our thinking has changed and we do say that men and women are equal but still in some part of our country women still fall in a lower category then man.do you think its right?what is your view on this topic?

I am not from India and I don't know much about your culture. But based on what I read on some post here, I guess they are not equally treated based on the rights like acquiring a job. I read one post here, at the thread "successful businesswoman is a terrible home maker", something like that. And someone reply, I guess, he is from your country that woman must be at home. For me, it does implied that there is still an inequality because woman has the right to work as well especially if the necessity calls her to work. But it is still depends between husband and wife.

The status of women in India has long been considered one of the most difficult in the world. And I've heard that women were killed because their dowry is insufficient for a wedding. The possibilities may seem diverse depending on where you live in India but remain deeply marked by gender discrimination in this country steeped in medieval traditions. Recently, a law passed against violence towards the women but many progress still need to be done...

there are many age old traditions still running through in our Indian society that consider the place of woman is at home.they are never treated equal in the society as well as family even though govt. says of equal rights.even now most of the female child in villages are deprived of education and are forced to be involved in household activities.

Indian men generally grow up seeing their mothers do household chores, cooking, cleaning and so on. They expect the same from their working wives and girlfriends later, not realizing that these women were brought up in a similar way as well. Culturally, most mothers-in-law want grandsons, not granddaughters (as evils like dowry are still prevalent), forcing their daughters-in-law to abort girl babies.

The USP of my argument is this : The sex ratio of women to men in India is 914:1000. If a girl child is killed before birth, it shows that men and women are not being treated equally. Women are unwanted and that is inequality.

I heard about opinions and news about women from India that they are preferred to be in the households than do jobs like that of men in their country. It is in their culture to do so and to follow but in these days, we are given freedom to choose what we want and what we want to do. If a woman is competent and skillful enough that pars with the opposite sex then why not let her do the job or work anyway.
