Do you think Music Makes People Do Bad Things?

I Honestly think that it does not make people do bad things.

Back in the i think 70s-80s(Correct me if im wrong) Ozzy Osbourne was accused of being a devil worshiper, satanic, and many other things.
Same thing with Marilyn Manson.

Even with the rap group from the 90's named Insane clown posse (ICP).

What are your thoughts?

No it all depends on the person and how he acts, I'm a techno addict; does that make me a druggy?

Its a persona.
People who go out to the extreme and set these make others look bad.

Finally i find people who agree with me.

Just because i like heavy metal, does not mean i worship satan.
And i am also not a mean guy. i can be mean, but all in all im a nice guy i think.

People make it look bad because they make bad decisions i guess.

Thanks for the replies.

As everyone has agreed on, it depends on the person.

If someone was to go out of there way and be like the singer, then yes, it would.

I think it's based on the person too, anyone smart enough wont take bad ideas from songs and go through with it.

I have to agree with everyone else in this thread, but only to a certain extent.
Music has a big effect on how a lot of people act. Although it's not always the case, it happens enough for me to agree that it does.

Yah, music is a big effect, like when I listen to some songs it makes me feel pumped, and energized. It gets me into a good mood. But no matter what I listen to music will never make me do a bad thing lol.

Yeah. People think if you listen to one song, you might just snap and go crazy.
Now, thats only if you listen to those cd's that make you feel high and stuff.
Other then that music should do nothing to your personality.

Music is awesome, it may inspire things that are bad in small children if they're listening to sex/drugs/violence music, but that's the parents fault for making it accessible. Music is not detrimental to your mental health

I think it can, but I also wouldn't blame the musicians and/or record companies legally or morally in the event that something terrible were to happen. This thread reminds me of how somebody killed themself while listening to "Adam's Song" by Blink 182 on repeat. The band took a lot of unneeded heat for it. If somebody is stupid enough to do something negative to themselves or another human being, there is no way how I find it logical to think of the musicians as liable. It would just be pure stupidity.

Personally, music has yet to make me do anything negative. Sure, music can change our emotions, but I do not think it has the power to make me do something that I would regret later. Nonetheless, this is an interesting thread and I commend you for thinking about this topic within itself. It really made me think. Thanks!
