Does Everything Happen For a Reason?

The topic of argument is whether if everything happens for a reason. In other words, do you believe in fate and destiny?

I personally don't think so, I'll go more in-depth with my reasoning as we progress further. Leave your reasoning why you think it is or isn't below.

No. Little kid was hit by a car for running in the middle of the street like an idiot right in front of me, driver was going slow, just had no time since the kid ran out of nowhere. Driver was fined for the kids mistake, kid is still running out from behind cars, hopefully the next one knocks some sense into him, first one didn't apparently.

That's practically karma, not destiny or fate, you're confusing the two concepts. Nor does that reasoning conclude that everything happens for a reason, it concludes that every action has a reaction.

That's actually my fault for assuming the Karma conclusion.

I only thought this debate was about the idea of everything happening for a reason.

I think everything happens for a reason, it might not effect you directly, but it effects someone else. And vice-versa.

I've had many events happen that probably wouldn't have happened without very certain things..
Like... I met a really good friend on MW2 in FFA (still talk all the time)
The thing is... we both never played mw2, FFA, or xbox at all back then..
and the only reason we started talking was because he was sniping.. and HE NEVER SNIPES.
i thought it was very weird that we met... and i mean he never plays xbox... once a month type shit.. probably less.

The odds that..
we both were playing that day
got in the same game
both got on mw2
both were sniping + had a mic in...
a lot of other variables.

The world is cruel, but every situation molds us in to the product we are today. The more you've been through the tougher you are, the more you are shielded from things me more ignorant you are towards situations.

To answer your question: I think it will in someone way make or break her, i think it was going to happen regardless. ( Not saying it was right).

I disagree, it weakens some.

The saying everything happens for a reason comes from a superstitious origin and implies that there's a force(God, etc.) that dictates everything. With that said, from the singularity, she was destined to be brutalized, raped, and murdered by this force's decision? I have a hard time understanding why a force(God) would destine such an awful thing.

This belief is completely unfalsifiable, and as I've said many times in the past, unfalsifiable hypotheses are never valid, since they substantiate no valid proof.

People mistake common coincidence, or really the inevitable with supernatural beliefs far too often. I mean, look at how vast the world we know is, and the universe we dont know is. There are infinite possibilities, combinations, scenarios to be had. Of course some odd things are bound to happen. Im not saying we should write everything off and never pursuit human curiosity, in fact im very against that. I'll let someone much more intelligent than I sum it up:
