And that is the reason for people making the bible. So people like you don't have problems with death. Because you think its just going to be pony's, and rainbows. While I don't believe that at all. I believe once you die you are reborn again. Without memory of your previous life/s. I have never read the bible, and might not ever. I don't really like reading, and I especially when it's something that might change my perspective on life, and my current beliefs, and it is possibly fictional. Fuck that.

I believe in the idea of a God, I highly doubt that humans just evolved by themselves.

Atheist here. I've read many parts of the bible, which is why I am an atheist. The bible is full of logical fallacies, and completely it is completely bias. I would also like to be viewed as a good person (which is based off of ones opinion) without having a book tell me what to do. Also, if you do not agree with EVERYTHING that the bible believes in, the you are not a true christian, just someone who has their own view/opinion that had derived from the christian bible. Plus, science has disproved many ideas from the bible, such as god creating everything.
Edit: If I recall correctly, the word for someone who has their own opinion on god(not the exact definition) is a deist. I may be incorrect.

If god existed why are there thousands of starving children in other countries? Innocent kids die every day from starvation.

If there was a good why would he let that happen?

Well if we're talking about the God from the Old Testament I seriously doubt he'd care about starving children.

I'd say it's a good thing because I'm not letting my heart rule my head. Of course we'd all love there to be an afterlife but I'm not going to fool myself into believing in God because I might not get into a heaven which in all likelihood doesn't exist.

I don't believe there is a god, I respect other people's beliefs but I do believe that religion is quite a primitive ideology that was created by man to try and explain things that we couldn't/can not explain.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love their to be an everlasting afterlife, full of happiness, joy, eternal bliss, etc.. after we die, but to me it just does not seem plausible in any way, shape or form. (We could go into Quantum Physics here and the nature of conciousness itself but that's for another thread)

Also to me religion seems as it is almost the 'easy way out' for lack of better wording, instead of questioning life and all of it's mysteries and trying to figure them out and advance ourselves, we instead turn to god. We do this because it gives us the answers to almost everything and sets out a plan which we must follow for life, which is what a lot of people want, some semblance of guidance in their life.

All this being said, these are MY opinions/beliefs, I respect other peoples and I have nothing against people believing in god. So long as people respect my opinion's and beliefs, and don't try and force their's upon me, I shall respect their's as well.

I like this point. It is true that believing in a higher being does give you a feeling of life after death.

But my problem with CERTAIN religious people is when they try to force their religion unto you, like a telemarketer. This discomforts me, simply because I do not believe in a higher being, does not mean I have no morals. In fact, (don't take this into offence) I do not need the bible to tell me what is right and wrong, as I am moral without the help of the bible, and I know what it is to be a truly moral person. This does not even come close to applying to all religious people, as I am friends with many who accept my beliefs (or non-beliefs rather) and do not discriminate me for them, and neither do I to them.

As for death. I guess I just live to accept that that is the end of my life, and I do not move on from it. Like any other being, my life ends, and I am no longer. But if there truly is a heaven, I'm sure my non-beliefs wouldn't affect it, simply because I am just as moral as any one else.

If you don't believe in God, than it comes secondary that you don't believe in the devil. Or at least that's how I see it.

I believe that God is real. I think I have gotten enough proof to believe so.

So killing your neighbour if you see him working on the sabbath should be morally acceptable and part of a general moral code?

I don't see why people seemingly always refer to religious texts as the holy grail of morals. Our morals generally come from society and if anything should be logically discussed, reasoned and debated. They should not be based off texts that are 2,000 years old, that does not represent the opinions of society in general in the present.

Now, don't take this the wrong way. But you have not gotten any proof of the existence of a higher being. We have also gotten no proof towards the non-existence of them.

No matter what you say is proof, there is no way it is legit. Unless you have a video

The bible states (if I believe correctly) that gays are an abomination. In no way is that even close to morally correct.

Besides that, the bible works pretty well as a guideline. I just don't need it to tell me what's wright and wrong, I can do that myself.

YES!...when you are "in dire need of something". When you need help, praying that it will go your way...like not get caught or get in trouble. When you are hoping for your love ones. What happened to that "one god"? It seems like there are many gods (other countries), so we have different beliefs...and we fight.

I believe in him, raised like such and it's pretty much seared into me, and I accept it, it's not like I'm forced.

I also look at it in the way of, why not be safe and go with something that will help your "2nd Life", But I also look at hell as, I'm already dead, what worse could I be given down there, die again?

Which also makes me question myself.

theres no solid proof that god exists. Its all about Believing. There hasn't and never will be proof that he exists. Thats physically impossible. a much greater being that us doesn't just show up one day to earth and is all like, whats up. Faith my friend, Faith.
