I spec this guy twice with my claws (just run up and claw) then this other guy comes out of no where and whips me in a single combat arena, I try to attack the guy I clawed and it's like "You're already under attack!". Does that happen alot? GF my spec.

Yeah, the secret is to barrage quick so you get a chance at the kill then come out with the epic claws and pwn. Im 74 str and I can hit 47 with claws combining all my hits

yea u can use as your advantage though look around for people your lvl fighting pot up and put spec on, then just try to get in on it just wait tell one is eating sometimes theres a 2sec gap there and just unleash the spec on them =)
