Let me put on my hater shades, because shit is about to get real.
I'm tired of seeing people get promoted to Staff out of nowhere. Most of which are clueless when they start. I took the plunge, and sure I didn't know the whole gig when I was promoted, but guess what ladies and gentlemen, I was promoted to moderator first. At least moderator gave new forum team members an idea of what they are doing. Now, users are just promoted to Staff. They not only start off clueless, they start off clueless moderating the whole website, rather than a section or a few subforums. And I am fucking tired of seeing posts that have been reported sit for days before they are tended to. Especially when there are than enough Staff members to handle reports, without having administrators pitching in.
Let me set up an analogy: Promoting a regular user to Staff is like putting a "fresh out of training" pilot into an aircraft full of passengers by him or herself, with hopes that they will arrive to their destination safely. With the exception of no lives being put in danger, but me along with other users are being given gray hair because Staff does so little nowadays. Yes I said it, most of you don't do anything. Wanna fight about it?
For those of you that are not familiar with the Envious group, it was a group that "trained" potential forum team members.
Why we need a group similar to that of Envious, without that godawful name of course.
Users can be trained prior to being promoted, so when they finally are promoted, they know what they are going.
Users could be required to log their post reports, so when they are in the position to handle them, they do so adequately.
Users can learn the rules like the back of their hand, so when it comes to their time to enforce them, they can do so correctly.
Users will learn how to user their time efficiently, so they can get more done in a less amount of time.
This group would also allow @Philly and @Narc to determine who's up for the job more easily.
I have two particular users in mind that would do a great job of managing such a group; @"Gr33d" and @"Cann!bal".
@Philly: There goes my opportunity, but I am glad I was able to get that weight off of my shoulder. Take care, homeboy.
There was talk of doing this with a group I might be in. Don't know if it was declined or what happened with it. I definitely agree with this, obviously since we did kinda just discuss this last night. Haha.
This is moronic... Every staff member is picked for a REASON just like you were. We dont just promote them and not train them. They dont even get ACP access until proven worthy, but of course you dont know that.
Oh, and staff doesnt do anything you say? Thats funny, because every SINGLE staff member has to complete a mass amount of reports or they get kicked off the team. You do know things change right? Because you are proving your self to be dim-witted.
