Excessive population growth is an extremely serious problem facing the contemporary world. Each minute, the earth's population is increased by 160 people. In face of this problem, the UN Population Fund sounded a warning to the international community: Lacking prompt and determined moves to control population and maintain a balance between consumption and development, the world population would be 12.5 billion people by the middle of the next century and humanity be unable to develop further.

The global emergence of the population question poses a serious challenge to many countries and regions. For a populous developing country like China the challenge posed by the population question not only has a bearing on the survival and development of the Chinese nation but also affects the stability and prosperity of all human society.

i agree to the point that one child policy did help to put a control over the population but it has bought several drawbacks with it.it has created an imbalance between girls and boys.

To be honest the one child policy has failed miserably in many circumstances. The effects are just so volatile. People just don't seem to want have children's at all in countries like china where the one child policy is implemented.

People should not be dictated by law to have only one child - they should be educated to do so. I am glad that in my country, despite population explosion resulting in more than a billion people, the rule of law has prevailed to uphold a basic human right such as having a family.

What if the one child dies and the couple is too old to have kids? Should they lead a life of mourning?

no i do not agree for one child policy..

i am a mother and i know what is life after having children...
and i believe also that children is gift from GOD..
its up to them how many children they want..they have their freedom to choose and they can learn also for that situation...

It is not the best solution to implement One-Child Policy in every nation. The best key and is still the greatest is to educate parents and the couple about family planning and the like. It may sound easy but still it imposes problems for implementation.

This isn't a good solution, Having a child is a blessing and shouldn't be halted. (Unless you have a 500 million population in your country) There are lot of alternatives being introduced, like, Family Planning, Using of Condoms and Contraceptives and some other sex education.

I think one child policy should applies to the parents who have no financial cAPability to raise their kids. But if the parents are financially stable, emotionally and physically ready,i think they should be allow to have 2 or more kids.

The One Child Policy is not bad because it is for goodness of our society. But the leaders who implemented this policy must be fair and merely imposed it to those countries who are over populated. It is unfair for this policy to be implemented to other country with less population like Australia. Also, there must be a consideration to those couples who just recently married.

It takes out the life of people in a discreet way. Just imagine what will happen to the equilibrium if people will diminish in one shot by ordering us to have a 1 child policy. If there are such circumstances that your only child dies, then what's coming next? Drawbacks coming here is the continuity of generations on how a certain clan will evolve if there will be a sort of imbalance with gender productivity of a single family. Then above all drawbacks when a certain point reaches to its climax that female is greater than men or vice verse it'll be a major catastrophe for the entire mankind to cope up and balance the gender availability necessary for creating a family which is the basic unit of a society. It's a big NO NO for me to have this kind of resolution for overpopulation issues and it'll not definitely help us but actually harms us in the future.

Well We all know that Child Birth is increasing like anything but we should not control it like saying one child policy and all because if you believe in fortune and fate then you will get that much only which is written in your fortune
