When it all comes down to it, we all have a preferred forum software and our own reasons why.
Which forum software is your favorite and why?

I know most of you are going to say MyBB, but for those who do, have you ever experimented any other software?

I personally prefer IP.Board over anything, any day.
The looks, the feel, the ACP, almost everything is superior to MyBB, xF and vB in my eyes.
I even have a folder dedicated to IPB hooks, apps & mods, skins, etc. taking up 200+ MB of my computer space.

Anyways, post down below your favorite and why.

IPB- it's ellegance is amazing the acp looks so much more professional. In general I would prefer using it a lot more then myBB and vB.


I haven't tried xF so I can't compare it to that yet

I've never honestly seen an IPB forum's ACP. But from all the IPB forums I joined, and how much I looked through for shit for it, it's actually a pretty nice software. It has a VERY nice shoutbox that you can install, themes are easy to find, and just overall it looks more professional if you ask me.

Now MyBB, I'm experienced with so I'm going to have to go with MyBB.

Although none are, MyBB is the most secure. Don't choose IPB, has the most exploits out of them all. I've experienced every software, IPB and MyBB more than vB.

i think IPB patched all the security issues? I know that you couldnt get into the transamgrafx one when you tried....

That is one of millions. Sometimes they do patch them after a few months, yes. There has always been a lot of exploits with IPB though, those first few months of IPB not giving a shit could get your site fucked.

But don't get me wrong, I think IPB looks awesome from the outside.

MyBB is my preferred forum software, considering it's free, and considering I've ran a successful forum using it. It's relatively customizable in comparison to the other forum software out there at the moment. The themes are simplistic, but there are some really nice custom themes I've seen designed by Audentio, PixelMonkey, and more.

IP.Board just doesn't suit me. If anything, I would pick vBulletin over IPB. It's just how IP.Board handles; it seems like it's all over the place. Every IP.Board forum you look at, they all have the same sort of layout; a simple blue theme or a simple green Xbox-styled theme. vBulletin, however, has some nice purchasable themes/skins, and also some nice free-to-download ones too. Just take a look at XboxMB's theme.
