DDoS Attacks
Last week www.forumkorner.com/ was down due several continuous ddos attacks. The site was down for more than around a day and a half. Philly stated "On the up side this will only better our security, and encourage me to extremely step up our security towards any future attacks like this. Expect cloudflare to be extremely annoying for a little while, and thank you everyone for your continued dedication, and patience." in response to the DDoS attacks.
New Mobile Themes Released
The new light and dark mobile themes have been released. The themes were created by @Johnny_S, the same designer who created ForumKorner's current light and dark main themes. However, users have reported an inability to switch themes once accessing the newest themes.
27.5 Hour Downtime Information by @Philly - Our beloved admin created a thread outlining some of the details of the recent downtime that the site experienced. He told us the hackers AIM and twitter. Along with the site being up, he announced that we might have to deal with some more downtime in order to ensure better security. Plus, he told us that the new mobile them will be released. The Player Mentality by @Bit - This user is creating lots of very useful threads about relationships. This thread, my favorite, describes the "player mentality" when it comes to women. If you're interested in this topic or others, be sure to check out this thread or the rest of @Bit's threads.
PLEASE HELP by @Miles - This thread was a shock to the members of the community. @Miles and @Yeti were talking to @Ecstasy and they found out that he was going to attempt suicide. They asked for help to try and get in contact with anyone who knew @Ecstasy or if somewhere could find out where he lived in order to send help. Thankfully, @FeaR is good friends with @Ecstasy and just so happened to see the thread in time to call his parents and get help. Be sure to thank @"Miles", @"Yeti", and @"FeaR" for saving one of our member's lives. Also, don't forget to offer your support to @"Ecstasy".
No Joke by @FeaR - As described in @"Yeti"'s thread, the user @Ecstasy is having some troubles. However, this thread actually may have saved @"Ecstasy"'s life. @FeaR told us that he was at the bar, and read a thread about his friend Nick, also known as @"Ecstasy". He told us that he called his parents and that he was being treated in the hospital. The users @Miles and @Yeti both helped to save the life of one of our members. Without that thread, who knows what may have happened. The FK News Team would like to thank @Yeti and @Miles for making this situation aware to us, and would also like to send our support to @"Ecstasy".
FK Oscars | Vote Today! by @Zach - The user @Zach created a thread that goes along with the Oscars that happened on Sunday night. Basically, you go to thread and vote for which users you feel deserve the awards. There are categories from most professional and even the best spammer. This is a wonderful idea, and I can't believe this is only the first time it's been done. Voting ends on the 2nd of February, so don't miss out. Vote for which users you feel are the best at what they do.
The Life of FK (Points, Advantages, Features) by @KeepBotting - This user decided to share his opinion of ForumKorner, after have being registered for about a month. He shared some things he loved, and things he didn't like. He said that he was "overwhelmed with how great everyone is here." It's so amazing to see new members taking a liking to the site early on. Plus, he left great feedback, which we don't see too often. Thanks to @KeepBotting for creating such a wonderful thread.
Do we need a god to act morally? by @Paradoxium - This new user raised a very good question in the Philosophy & Debates section this week. He brought up the question of god and morality. A very, very intense debate went on in this thread, and it was quite heated. However, I do suggest reading all the arguments made on this thread, because there were some really solid ones.
Destiny, OG, Gods, and Anime Recruitment by @Pun - As most of you know, @Shade owns eight groups here on ForumKorner. He bought them up and changed them into buy-in only groups. If you would like to join one of these groups, you must pay a fee ranging from $5-8. Congratulations to @Pun and @Shade on their new groups.
Why do the Graphics on Forum Korner Suck? by @Astro - The well-known graphic artist @Astro composed a thread this week that explained the graphics that he had recently been seeing on the site. He expressed disapproval of several things, one of the being have the dark and light theme available. The two themes make it very difficult to do quality graphics. Some things look good on the dark theme, and some things look good on the light theme. However, not everything works on both themes. Check out @"Astro"'s thread to read more on this subject.

@Leader - Hello there, Gr33d. How are you doing today?
@"GrƷƷd" - Pretty well so far. I've just been chilling at home doing homework and hanging out on FK.
@Leader - Sounds like a pretty nice Monday. So, first question. How old are you?
@"GrƷƷd" - I am 17, but I'm turning 18 in March.
@Leader - It seems like you would be much older. Anyhow, when did you sign up on FK? What made you stay?
@"GrƷƷd" - Well I signed up on March 25, 2011 and am the 37th member. At the time I was good friends with Leafs and he convinced me to sign up and become the first upgraded member. I then remained active for about a month, then went inactive for around a year before coming back. Once I was back I remembered the site and logged in using my old details and saw that I was still upgraded and also saw how much the site had grown, so I decided to stick around and become active.
@Leader - Is that when you became staff? After you had returned?
@"GrƷƷd" - I became a Moderator like 4 months later and lasted as one for around 5 or so months. Then I got another chance at being a Moderator and was later promoted to Staff.
@Leader - Around what time was this? How long ago?
@"GrƷƷd" - I first became moderator in October of 2012 I believe and then became moderator again on March 18, 2013, FK's two year anniversary. And then maybe 1 month after that I was promoted to staff and have been staff ever since.
@Leader - So, what do you like most about the site? Also, have you made any close friends?
@"GrƷƷd" - I just love the community and think Philly does a great job running it. And also when I first became active again after being inactive for around a year I really liked the site due to its policy of banning scammers. And yes, I have become great friends with @Sherlock, @Philly, @"Cann!bal", @Jason, @Beats, yourself, @Poop, and also many more that I consider my friend.
@Leader - The community is great. Now, let's get a little more personal. What is your one true passion in life?
@"GrƷƷd" - Sports. More specifically, Soccer, Basketball, and Football. I have played soccer and basketball for probably 14+ out of my 17 years and I enjoy nearly nothing more. I also really enjoy watching football at both the collegiate and professional levels. I actually had the option to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level next year, but decided against it so that I can focus more on whatever it is I decide to study
@Leader - That's quite interesting. What are you planning on studying in college?
@"GrƷƷd" - I am unsure. I am highly considering attempting to get into Medical School though.
@Leader - Would you want to become a doctor?
@"GrƷƷd" - Possibly, or I've even thought about Dentistry. My father and many other family members are doctors, so that's definitely had an influence on me.
@Leader - Well, good luck with your future endeavors. Do you have anything else you would like to share?

Thailand: Thai Red shirt Leader shot and wounded.
A day after Thailand has stated a state of emergency, a red shirt activist was shot and wounded. More information will be released shortly but this is a day that all of Thailand will forever remember. The Thailand Government is trying to cut down on illegal and inappropriate activities. Back onto topic, the wounds are not deadly nor always noticeable. People believe that the shooting is politically motivational, he got shot for political reasons people are saying in Thailand. The attack is likely to fan tensions in Thailand's political crisis.
More then two dozen hanged in Iraq for terrorism related crimes
Twenty-six people were convicted of terrorism crimes two days ago in Iraq. The Justice Ministry in Iraq have confirmed these crimes. Iraq has been engulfed in violence for many months. The United Nations said 2013 was the deadliest year in Iraq since 2008, with almost 8,000 people killed in violence, most of them civilians.
China has overall bad internet blackouts!
Millions of people in China have had major internet problems on Tuesday, the Chinese government suspects that this was dealt by people called ‘hackers’ or activists. China does not allow most of China to access United States websites, such as ‘Twitter’, ‘Facebook’ and ‘Youtube’. They disband those websites and do not let people go on them due to military and government issues. Most of the reports on Tuesday, people said that if they tried to access a website, it would redirect to a famous United States website.
Ukraine: 3 protesters dead.
Three protesters are dead due to the police in Ukraine, laws say that it is forbidden to protest, and these protesters got overrun and killed. Two people were shot, according to a medical professional. People have been rallying the streets sense the law that no protesting was allowed since Wednesday. Videos came out, cops bashing on protesters, people were astonished and mad.
Razer's Project Christine
A new interesting project from Razer called Project Christine will be a computer separated in parts to make it easy for costumers to swap out parts, so they can always be up to date with hardware. The modular build will be have the individual modules being water cooled and is highly based on the concept of high performance that can easily be upgraded. Even though the project is not out for sale yet the a small public group seems to be frightened of the idea of being limited to one hardware supplier. The First Steam Machines
At CES Valve could present the first 13 manufacturers of the Steam Machine. Not only were the manufacturers presented but also price and design from most of the manufacturers were also presented. The manufacturers goes from Alien Ware to Origin, and the current listed price range starts at 500$ and goes up to 6000$. This reveal has caused room for a lot of debate among skeptics seeing as the Steam Machine is not going to be competing price with the average idea of a console, but rather seems to start at the price range of a low end gaming PC.
China Lifts Console Ban
Although the lift is only temporary China has lifted the ban on consoles which prohibited sale of foreign consoles. However knowing the Chinese there is a catch. The consoles may only be imported and sold to China if they are manufactured in the free trade zone of Shanghai. This of course means that the lift of the ban is only a minor change seeing as manufacturers will have to make them in Shanghai. Previously console buyers would go to a gray market to gain a console.
