New Mobile Themes Coming Soon
This pass week an announcement was made that a dark and light mobile theme will be arriving soon. @"Johnny_S", the creator of ForumKorner's default and dark theme, was hired to create the concepts. @Philly elaborated that it'll take a maximum of 14 days to conceptualize and that we'll surely enjoy the new mobile themes.
Custom UID's Are for Sale
It's official. @Philly has decided to finally commence vending custom UID's. He elaborated that he wishes to keep the rarity of low and unique UID's high, so consequentially the UID's 100 and below will not be sold as of now. However, he has particularized that he has intentions of holding auctions for those UID's in the morrow. If you're interested in buying a custom UID, private message @"Philly" and make an inquiry. Several members have already implored this opportunity. @Philly's currently hosting an auction for the UID 100.
Tagging Issues Resolved
Finally a resolution. The user @Leader discovered a way to mention users with special characters and multiple spaces without an error. He shared his recent discovery in a thread yesterday, which can be found below. The code to mention users with unique characters in their username is as follows.

What Did You Get For Christmas? by @Narc - As we all know, Christmas was last week. In this thread posted by @Narc, we were able to see what other members received on Christmas. Tons of things were mentioned in this thread. From shoes, to Xbox Ones, to monitors, it was all there. If you are interested in seeing what other members received, or would like to share your gifts, check out this thread.
Plasma - Banned For Offsite by @Plasma - This week, we saw multiple ban disputes from @"Plasma". He stated that he had scammed offsite, and that his ban was unjust. Some members disagreed, others happened to agree with @"Plasma". After multiple threads made and then junked by staff, it does not look like @Plasma will be making a return.
2014 Time Capsule by @Justice - One of the site's moderators, @Justice, created a time capsule thread. There is a form to fill out with some questions about yourself. The whole point of it is to look back at it in a year to see how much you have changed. This thread will be closed on the 1st of January, and reopened a year later. Don't miss out on this oppurtunity to participate in the time capsule.
Upgraded Members Lounge #1 by @Leader - @Leader officially started the first lounge for upgraded members. The lounge is available for Onyx, Power, and Power+ members. This thread is a place to hang out and talk to other members of the site. The thread is closed at 1,000 posts, and then the host chooses the host of the next lounge. How To: Quote Users with Special Characters in Their Username by @Leader - This thread teaches you how to quote users with special characters. Before this thread, most users didn't know how to do this. Hopefully, these users were able to learn from this thread. Be sure to check it out.
Want a Custom UID? by @Philly - This week, @Philly announced that he would now be selling custom UIDs. If there is an inactive UID that you have always wanted, now is your chance. To purchase one, you must find a UID that is above 100 and that is completely inactive. To keep it exclusive, Philly will make the prices very high. So if you want one of these UIDs, you must be willing to spend some money. Check out the official thread to learn more.

@Leader - Today, I have decided to interview my friend, Jason. He's a staff member, and I've been talking to him for awhile. I figured that not many people knew too much about him. So without further adieu, how's it going, man?

@Leader - That's great to here. Well, let's get right into it. What is one interesting fact that you would like people to know about you?
@Jason - This is a tough one seeing as I am not the most interesting person alive, lol. Well, I have been an avid cannabis smoker since I was 14. I originally started smoking cannabis to help me sleep. Since then, it's became a daily habit. It's kept me out of trouble over the years. Another somewhat interesting thing I feel I have to throw out is my race. I am African-American, well half. I'm Halfrican! I am frequently asked this by users when they hear me talk. So now you all know!
@Leader - I have never heard any of those things! I would have to say that you seem like a pretty interesting fellow. Let's learn a little bit more about you. How old are you? Also, what interests you the most?
@Jason - I am 17 years old. I turn 18 on March 6, 2014. To answer the second question, cars. I am a huge car fanatic. I have always had a passion for German cars, Audi to be specific. Cars are truly extraordinary. That is why I would love to someday make automotive mechanics my life long career.
@Leader - So, you're about to finish high school. Interesting. What are you studying in school, or what are you planning to study in the future?
@Jason - Welding and automotive mechanics. I have studied welding basics and have became talented at stick welding. I have several college credit hours for welding although I am only in high school.
@Leader - You did say that you were a car fanatic, so going into the industry would only make sense. Now, let's talk about ForumKorner. What brought you to ForumKorner?
@Jason - Purely curiosity brought me to ForumKorner. What's kept me here is all the cool users and Forum Team members I have met over the years.
@Leader - What is your favorite thing about the site?
@Jason - The community. I hate to toot my own horn, but the community here is the best. There's such an array of personalities and variety of interesting people and you are guaranteed to make a friend or two if that is your goal. Even if that isn't your goal, I am sure it will happen unintentionally.
@Leader - I think everyone can agree on that. The community is one of the best things about the site. Well, that about wraps it up for me. This will be our final question. Is there anything you would like to let the members of FK know?

Second bombing shakes Russia
The second suspected suicide bombing took place in the Russian city of Volgograd on Monday, killing 14 people, possibly more, and injuring 28 other innocent people. Although not as bad as the fist bombing, which took place the day before killing 17 people and injuring 35, it brings question to the security of Russian cities as it prepare to host the Winter Olympics. The explosion happened on a trolleybus near a busy market during morning rush hour. Based on eyewitness footage, the blast appeared to have occurred in the back half of the bus.
France's 75% 'millionaire tax' to become Law
Government officials in France have made a “millionaire tax” that is set to become law. The law allows the government to place a 75% tax on companies that pay salaries greater than €1 million. The tax was approved by France's constitutional council on Sunday. President Francois Hollande introduced the law as a way to force the higher class to help shrink France's increasing budget deficit and support the economy. According to government officials, employers paying in excess of €1 million a year must pay the levy. The tax is set to apply only for 2013 and 2014, and will not be allowed to surpass 5% of a company's annual revenue.
British lawmakers to visit Iran to help rebuild ties
British officials are planning to visit Iran next week to try to organize a reciprocal visit by Iranian officials. This is the most recent action taken by Britain to try and repair the relationship between the two countries. Jack straw, a former British foreign secretary, released a statement saying he would be a part of the four man delegation visiting Tehran from January 6th to January 10th. The delegation will be made up of members of the British parliament's All-Party Parliamentary Group on Iran. They group recently accepted an invitation from the Iranian parliament's British/Iran Friendship Group.
Helicopter rescue in store for trapped researchers
The passengers and crew that have been stranded on a ship trapped in ice since Christmas Eve will have to be airlifted by a Chinese helicopter. There are a total of 74 people trapped on the Russian MV Akademik Shokalskiy ship, including tourists and scientists. “A decision has been reached to evacuate 52 passengers and four crew members by helicopter from China's Xue Long ship, should the weather allow," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement. Snow gusts and low visibility forced the Australian rescue ship to turn around with only 10 nautical miles separating them from the Russian ship.
