ForumKorner Posting Contest Extended
This past week, the official ForumKorner posting contest was prolonged to make up for four days that were overlooked during the initial contest time frame. However, the posting contest has came to an official end. The contest was extended from the 14th to the 18th. The third prize winner was @"Sin", second prize was awarded to @"Anaheim", and first prize was awarded to @"Hope".
Getting off of Probation Next Month by @Sleep - The user @Sleep shared a part of his personal life with us. He has been on probation for 9 months. Felony vandalism was what he was charged with. He is a graffiti artist, as some may know, and that is why he is on probation. There are more details throughout the thread.
Contest Ideas by @Philly - Forum Korner's anniversary is on March 18th. @Philly announced that he will be holding a contest to celebrate the anniversary. The purpose of this thread was to ask for some ideas. Many users shared some great ideas. @Michael and @"GrƷƷd" had some of the best ideas, in my opinion. If you would like to share your idea, or check out some other possibilities for this contest, be sure to read this thread.
Say Goodbye to Flappy Bird by @Custom - It is no doubt that Flappy Bird has taken the world of mobile gaming by storm. However, the creator announced that he was going to remove it from the app store, and he did. At this point, there are only speculations about what was really going through his head. Check out the thread to learn more about this situation.
Why Groups Are Worth Nothing and Useless by @Plague - The user @Plague went on a rant this week that explained his opinion on groups. There were several reasons as to why he thinks groups are worthless, buy-in's being one of them. At the end of thread, he explained how he only wanted to see some quality out of these new groups such as giveaways. Many users agreed with him, and he received nearly 20 kudos on this thread. Be sure to read the thread, and give him some feedback.
Sledgehammer Games Making Next CoD by @Tigers - It was announced this week that Call of Duty will be continually made on a three year cycle. Each year, it will rotate between 3 different developing studios; Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and the latest addition to the franchise, Sledgehammer. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Call of Duty. That being said, Infinity Ward games fail to grab my attention. Treyarch is definitely my preferred studio. That being said, I'm not sure how I feel about Sledgehammer. @JohnnyG: Today I am joined by @"n4n0". How are you doing?
@n4n0: Great, how about you?
@JohnnyG: Fantastic. Let's get this interview started. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
@n4n0: I'm an IT Specialist in the U.S. Army, been in for 4+ years so far. I'm currently stationed in Washington. I'm from California originally. I'm a Gamer and an IT fanatic at heart.
@JohnnyG: Impressive. I see you have the traveller award. Where around the world have you travelled?
@n4n0: I've been all over the USA, and I've also travelled around Europe quite a bit while I was stationed in Germany. I've been to the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany(obviously), and Belgium. As far as the USA goes, I've been to California, Washington, Oregon, Virginia, Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas just to name a few places that I actually spent a bit of time in.
@JohnnyG: Nice. Where was your favorite place to live?
@n4n0: I would definitely have to say Europe as a whole. The atmosphere there was far superior to what it is in the USA in my opinion.
@JohnnyG: That's quite interesting. I see you are new to FK. What is your opinion on FK as a whole?
@n4n0: If I were to sum it up in one word... Interesting. There seems to be a good amount of respectable people there, several of whom I actually knew on sythe, as well as some who have recently PMed me thanking me for handling scam reports and such for them in the past.
@JohnnyG: Brilliant. Favorite hobbies?
@n4n0: I enjoy Biking, as well as going to EDM/Electronic concerts. I've been to many out here in WA, with plans on more here in the very near future. I also thoroughly enjoy the simpler things in life. Just sitting out and watching the clouds pass by, the sun set, etc. I enjoy taking the time out to just enjoy nature.
@JohnnyG: Very nice. What would you say is your favorite food?
@n4n0: It's hard to pick a favorite. I enjoy most anything, and I'm not a picky eater by any means.
@JohnnyG: I feel it. If you could implement one thing into FK, what would it be?
@n4n0: That's difficult to say, FK has its own... Feel to it per se. What it has going for it currently seems to be quite fitting and I can't think of anything major I'd implement at this current point in time.
@JohnnyG: I see. Do you have any plans for the future?
@n4n0: As of right now, I'm studying for the promotion board, and preparing for everything I have to do in order to get promoted to Sergeant. I also plan on starting college and working towards a degree in Computer Science. After that, I may consider taking the warrant officer path in the military, that is, if I decide to stay in.
@JohnnyG: Wow! Good luck with that. One final question, what is your opinion on Superbowl XLVIII?
@n4n0: 43-8. 'nuff said.

Twitter Commerce Leaks
Twitter has been largely used for non-important things, such as play-by-play updates of TV shows. A recent leak shows that Twitter may be used for something a little better. This past week, images found by Re/Code show sponsored tweets that feature a buy button with a price-tag. This new feature will link products to a service called Fancy, allowing you to buy the item. There is no news as of yet detailing when it's rolling out.
DirectTV Subscribers Can Now Use Roku To Stream HBO Go
DirectTV has announced that they now allow customers who pay for TV and HBO will be able to use their DirectTV credentials to gain access to the app, and its features. This is a welcomed change, seeing as the customers couldn't use the service when it rolled out, which means they have been out of luck since 2011. This may also mean that they will allow authentication on Apple TV and Xbox 360 sometime soon as well.
Apple's iWatch and iOS 8 Are Supposedly Fitness-Focused
There has been no real word on Apple's smart watch as of yet, but we may have some sort of idea on what it is all about. This new wearable tech will mostly focus on fitness and helping the user stay as healthy as possible. This also comes with news that a new app being developed by Apple, known as 'Healthbook', will be a crucial part of iOS 8. The watch and iOS 8 are supposedly going to work together to monitor several pieces of health and fitness data. As of yet, this is all just a rumor with Apple not confirming anything.
Lockheed Martin Testing Autonomous Convoy
There has been quite a lot of news recently covering the automation of several things, including package delivery. This past week, Lockheed Martin completed testing of full autonomous convoys. This testing was for the Army and Marine's AMAS program. The test was completed using obstacles they might actually encounter, including humans and junctions. This technology could mean keeping soldiers safer by removing them from risk altogether. That being said, this technology is quite far away from being able to be deployed in battle.
