So if you have been living under a rock for the last week you might not know that the Olympics are going on. Now a controversial topic with these Olympics is what Russia is currently doing to there gay / lesbian population. Now what I don't understand is how us Americans (And other Countries) are ridiculing them when in fact in some states it is illegal to marry someone of the same sex. It honestly amazes me how hypocritical we can be.
Personal opinion is that Gays should be allowed to get married and have same rights as people that marry people of opposite sex.
I can't help myself but laugh at the subject. The whole fact that there are people arguing about whether or not homosexuals should be allowed to marry just goes to show what we humans really are. In my opinion, we shouldn't even be debating if they should or shouldn't be allowed to. It should be left alone like, who cares if two guys get married, does it hurt them that badly emotionally that they have to be against it or something?
The government shouldn't be in control of marriage but at the same time us other countries shouldn't be ridiculing what Russia does with it's laws. Pretty sure other countries get offended by what we do. (NSA)
Why? Because I love seeing two chicks making out in public, but not two guys, and I only vote for what I want because I am a short sighted American prick.
It may be illegal to marry someone of the same sex in America but you can't brutally attack and kill homosexuals with no consequence like in russia. Also you won't be put in prison for protesting "gay propaganda".
It may be slightly Hippocratical but there is a big difference. You don't go around attacking and putting people in prison because you don't like what they do in the privacy in their own home. Of course putin isn't doing anything for obvious political reasons.
Hypocritical? No. We are in the midst of a battle for LGBT rights. We're not being hypocritical because the battle is not over. If you denied LGBT rights here, however, for some reason advocated them there, then yes, you're a hypocrite. Howbeit, to advocate LGBT rights here in America and there in Russia is not hypocritical. You're generalizing America as one conscience.
