Today i will be showing you how to create a animated gif image, this will be considered part 2 of my gif series.
You can find part one here

For this animation tutorial I will be using something as simple as text.

We will be making fading text.

Now first we will begin by making a new document of about this this size 150x70

Next pick the font you want to use, its best to use an easy to read font.

I will be using a font called Visitor which can be found here.

Use a font size of about 39 pt and center the text as best as possible.

Now Fill your background layer with #33.33.33 (remove the .'s) and give your text a 1px white stroke for good visibility.

Ok moving on, we will begin by making the text "fade".

Go to "window" in your navbar and select "animation"

this should pop-up at the bottom:

step1fn.jpg

(if not press the small rectangle button in the bottom right)

Now in that tab i want you to press the small icon (looks like the new layer button) 10 times,

this will create 11 frames total.

Next I want you to click the second frame then go to your layers window and reduce the opacity of the text to 90%.

Do this for the next 9 frames going 10% lower each time till its completely hidden.

Now hold ctrl and click every frame so there all selected,

then navigate to the button in the top right of the window and choose "copy frames"

Next select the last frame and then navigate to the button and choose "paste frames"

This window will appear:

Tick the same option as shown.

Now the new frames should all be selected by default,

Navigate the button once again and select "reverse frames"

Next select the 12 frame and click the trash can icon, now select the last frame and do the same.

Now hold ctrl and select all the frames again now click below one of the frames were it shows a little black triangle,

change the time to 0.2 if its not already.

Hit play to see it in action!

If you want to save it go to file> save for web and devices, makes sure gif is selected and save.
