Giveaways (#### post wins)

I think there should be a limit set on the number of post you can set as the winning number in a giveaway.

ex: there is a thread where the 10 millionth post wins

well lets put this in perspective.

This site has 1million post.

imo anything over 150 posts or so is just an excuse to create spam, this will cause for the database to start getting heavier and probably lead to @Philly needing to purchase new hosting due to people hosting spammy giveaways.

Example of one of these threads gotten out of hands.

on DG there is a thread where they are wanting to get it to 1million posts.

As you can see there is 2600+ pages of posts and they are only on post #131501

Don't get me wrong, DG is a nice forum, I was just using that as an example.

It's not being a hater it's using common sense. Do you have any idea how hard on the hosting it would be for 10million posts?

Philly would need to upgrade to a strong dedicated server and even then everytime those posts would be accessed via mySQL or something different it would be suuuuuch a heavy load on the server.

Oh, well ye, I've seen a 2,000 one also. I think the max should be 300 or 250 or something. Just nothing higher than 500.

Why don't we do something more creative in the giveaway section, rather than just asking for X posts.

There are not even 1000 regularly active members. I think everyone would be fine with 150 or so.

The most posts one one thread is 11k I think. 10 mil will never happen.
