Some of you may recall my thread where I posted about getting a referral to an special team of doctors that try to diagnose unresolved cases when everyone else has failed. Essentially a real life House MD scenario. For those who don't know I'm 21 and have been suffering from excruciating chronic pain in both lower legs. I also can't do much activity anymore due to leg cramps. Walking up a set of stairs causes slight cramps and riding my bicycle has become impossible.
Well earlier this week I got to meet them and we went over my conditions and did some small tests.
Scheduled an EMG and took a blood test for some very specific substances before going back home.
A few hours later the team calls me and asks me to come back to the hospital asap.
My bloodtest showed an extremely high level of a muscle degenerative substance. The standard value is ~195, I had a little over 15000. It was so high the team assumed it had to be a lab error so I took a second test.
They called me back yesterday to tell me the second test gave the same result and there was no lab error. They're looking at muscle disorders but require more tests to find out exactly which one.
Whatever it is I assume it's gonna be pretty bad judging by my blood test. Can't be a good sign if that number on my test was so extremely high that thespecialists were convinced it had to be a lab error.
I'll get called back with an appointment for a fitness test, muscle biopsy and a few other tests. After those tests they'll likely have the required information to diagnose which muscle disorder I have. It could be anything but all muscle disorders I know of are pretty terrible. It could even be ALS.
I'm not sure what to feel right now so I decided to share. Feel free to ask me any questions if you have any.
tldr: 21 years old, just got told I have some sort of muscle disorder and a muscle degenerative substance in my blood test is 75 times the number of a normal healthy person.
